Having lived in the area for more than 40 years, we hope we can share some snippets of local knowledge about where to visit during your stay at Kirkby Lonsdale Cottages. These places can often be overlooked due to their proximity to the world famous Lake District but all have their own unique charm and enchanting history.
Kendal is no ordinary market town. Alive with arts, events, festivals and culture, packed with intriguing history and great shopping streets. Visit street food inspired marra46_kendal for coffee and a snack and on your way home stop at Crooklands our very own bar and restaurant located on the main A65 road between Kendal and Kirkby.
Cartmel is a pretty village, well known for its fantastic food and drink (it’s home to two Michelin starred restaurants as well as plenty more great places to eat and drink). With a rich heritage dating back to Medieval times, Cartmel boasts a fascinating history which blends in seamlessly with its modern feel. The village is also known for its racecourse, with race events taking place throughout the summer months. For an extra special dining experience try &co or L'Enclume.
Sedbergh is set among the rolling hills of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park and is one of England’s leading book towns. Packed with character and locally sourced products. Not to missed for food and drink, The Black Bull is famous for its award winning chef and restaurant.
Our very own home town is Arnside. Known for its stunning estuary views and sunsets, Arnside has flourished since covid times and has attracted boutique shops and cafes. JJ Crossfield's Cafe & Bar comes highly recommended with a laid back atmosphere, serving super tasty tapas style dishes and stretched sourdough pizza.
