Six years with Travel Counsellors! Running my own travel business has been an incredible journey. Today, I reflect on where I started and where I am now. I'm in a much better space than at any time in my career in travel. There have been moments where I questioned my choices, but I take them as lessons for self-improvement.

I owe a huge thank you to my family, friends, the fantastic team at our Manchester head office, our CEO who steered us through the toughest of conditions during the pandemic, and our fantastic suppliers across the globe. Last but not least, thank you to my customers. Without your support, I wouldn't be where I am today with this business.

But an option further afield might be what the avid skier who is looking for something different, Japan has some great slopes and is well worth the trip if anything to get the cultural side of things in as well. A country in general that is not to be missed. With the temperatures dropping in November, long haul travel starts to become more popular. Florida enjoys year round warm weather and, in true American style, has no shortage of entertainment for tourists. Nepal with the beautiful Himalayas as a backdrop is somewhere that a lot of people always dream about going to but never actually do, perhaps November is the time to do it. Oman is the least developed of the oil rich gulf states but has, in recent years, certainly upped its games and has some beautiful hotels and sights.

In October, Dublin will always be one of the most go to cities in the world and when you are a one hour flight away from the city it would be wrong not to go and enjoy a pint of Guinness at the world famous Guinness Factory whilst attending the famous music week. Marrakech in Morocco is another great option that does not include a long flight. The city has loads of art and culture for the traveller that appreciates such things. Cambodia, another country steeped in history makes for a great long haul option.

Singapore is a delight and one must marvel at how this city turned itself around from being one of the poorest nations on the planet after the Second World War to one of the richest. The August school holidays will always bring a surge in demand for holidays on continental Europe in the sun. Whilst these are fun, they are also sometimes very cramped.
