Parade Day 24!

If you're in the parade this year, our Bottom Bar and function room toilets will be available to you whilst assembly takes place.

Bottom Bar also open for refreshments during this time. 🤩 11am to 12.45pm.

During Park Set up in the morning, 7am to 11am, tea and coffee will be available to all civic volunteers, as will hot sausage rolls, just head in and let the team know. ❤️

We will be open as usual on Civic Day, however we are fully booked for evening meals. Lunches will be a walk in only basis. 🍴

It's getting close, can't wait to welcome back the Parade! 🤩🎉

Trefoil Treat had an enjoyable and surprising visit to Dumfries House Estate. The grounds are free to visit, lots for children and adults to do without breaking the bank. The food in the cafe was lovely and a tour of the house informative and extremely interesting. Would highly recommend a visit. 1 1/4 hours from Trefoil Treat.

Do you own your own pencil case and get excited by stationary? Can you type at 500 words per minute whilst drinking a cup of tea, stroking the dog and filling in a booking form? Can you put up with the management's terrible sense of humour? If you answered yes to any, all or none of the above, then we're looking for you!

Poor old Buoy can barely wrap his paws around the telephone and he's hopeless with a keyboard. It's time for him to get back out chasing sticks and we're looking for his replacement. Could that be you?

You'll be working alongside 3 or 4 other members of the office team and need to be organised, enjoy a challenge and be able to provide a great welcome to our lovely customers. The role is largely admin based but it's definitely not a typical office role. As part of a close knit team with an ethos of helping each other out, expect some variety. You'll be coming in at a busy time of year and will be learning on your feet but no experience is necessary; just a willingness to learn and keep a smile on your face when things get challenging.

Main duties include:
- Greeting customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Responding to phone and email enquiries
- Processing bookings made online and by phone
- Maintaining payment records and raising invoices
- Maintaining accurate diaries and customer bookings
- Liaising with shore staff for hire equipment, activity and tuition arrivals

You'll be working in a team of around 30 people from all walks of life and we try to cultivate a family atmosphere among the team. Staff members all have free access to the centre's equipment and boats to use in their free time and there are usually activities and social trips going on in the evenings, either on site or in the local area. Ever wanted to learn to sail or paddle board? We operate an early start/early finish so there's plenty time in the evenings to get out and have some fun!

The role is full time seasonal and hours include weekends and some evenings. Due to our rural location, having your own transport is essential or accommodation can be provided on site.

This Friday 7th June, on the anniversary of the death of Robert the Bruce, we have our next free talk at the museum at 7pm. 'Medieval Death and What Followed' is a special collaboration between Dumfries Museum and Mostly Ghostly Tours.

We'll explore medieval murders in the town, what happened to Robert the Bruce's co**se, concepts of purgatory and hell, medieval ghost stories and much more. Grim, but fascinating history.
