Christmas Cookout and Crafts - Festive Outdoor Family Fun!🎄⭐️ Build a campfire with us at our secret site at Kelton Woods, enjoy some campfire treats and have a go at making simple decorations using natural material. Join the Threave Ranger Team, and possibly some curious winter wildlife, for this festive activity with a twist!
Saturday 14th December, 10am - 1pm, Threave Garden, Castle Douglas.

A weekend visit to Midkelton? Make sure you nip to The Earth's Crust Bakery
for some fantastic coffee, fresh milk from their in store vending machine (my kids love this), fresh sourdough and the most delightful focaccia and quiche. It’s a bit hidden away off of Kings street but many of our guests have picked up batches of dough (then cooked them on the pizza oven)..so definitely worth looking out for..

A lovely review from this weeks guests who returned for their second visit. A group of friends from Yorkshire and Derbyshire who brought their kayaks with them and enjoyed lots of the local delights.. and like many, are now planning their third trip!

So great to see the sunshine has reappeared!
A perfect day for an ice cream or sausage sizzle at Rockcliffe beach..less than a 15 min drive from Midkelton..beautiful at any time of the year…and I’m yet to visit without the ice cream van being there which is an added bonus!

Big shout out to local jewellery extraordinaire Jill Parker Jewellery. I had a lovely evening on Friday night with my sister and nieces at a private necklace making class. Less that 10 minutes from Midkelton Holiday Rental this would make a great class for any visitors and Jill will really look after you. Her studio is very cool and calm and we all left delighted with our handiwork! Thanks Jill! I look forward to a return visit to make some matching earrings.

Loving this photo that I have just been sent from guests who were at Midkelton 10 days ago! What a smart bunch of chefs.. weather was a bit hit and miss, yet they still managed a pile of outside cooking;

🧑‍🍳 pizza oven on the Friday night
🍔burgers and steaks from Grierson Bros on the Saturday..using the gas BBQ
🧀🍷cheese and wine around the 🔥in the BBQ hut on the Sunday night!

Loving this very full list of things that are on during civic week! Last year we loved the family bingo, hidden article and puffed our way around the fun run (was a very warm night, hence the puffing)…get yourself to Castle Douglas to take in some of the action!

The court yard at the Demijohn, the liquid deli is just absolutely beautiful with its cobbles and traditional steading setting- so this will be a beautiful addition the the Spring Fling and the May bank holiday..I bet the nibbles are delicious!
