Great days birding in dreich weather. An Osprey over Fuday followed by an Arctic Warbler at Ardmhorr a great find by Calum Scott. Whilst heading back from Castlebay I found out I had missed a message about a Little Stint at Traigh Mhor. Fortunately, it showed well upon arrival. With daylight beginning to fade I went to Eoligarry to see the 9 Glossy Ibis. Noticing a teal also on the pool I checked it only to see it was a Green-winged Teal. Ring-necked Duck below the house still

WELCOME TO BARRA HOLIDAYS

Are you still wondering where to go on your holidays this year. Why not visit the stunning Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. With its white sands and clear blue sea water you could be forgiven if you thought you were in some far away tropical paradise.

Whether you like walking, enjoying wildlife such as Golden and White-tailed Eagles, Corncrake, Dolphins, Whales. Or just enjoying the tranquil beauty of the island, Barra has something for you.

Over the next few weeks I will be posting updates and photos on our timeline to show you what the island has to offer.

Barra Holidays is a family run centre. We have a Cottage that has one double room, one twin room and a double sofa bed in the lounge. It includes a fully equipped kitchen, cot, high chair, TV with Freeview and free satellite broadband Wi-Fi, full central heating, parking area, private patio, BBQ area with seating and excellent sea views. The cost is £75 a night but if you stay for three nights or more that is reduced to £65 a night.

We have our hostel. There are five rooms. Two are twin rooms. One is a family room which has a double bed and bunk bed. Another is another family room which again has a double bed and a single bed. This room has its own mini kitchen. Finally, another room that just has a double bed and a mini kitchen. There is a shared kitchen with a fridge, kettle, cooker and microwave. Also a central sitting area with television and a spacious patio. All rooms are en suite. Wi-Fi, bedding and some basic foods such as tea, coffee, bread, milk etc. Typical prices are £20 per person per night for a twin room to £65 a night for a family of 4.

We have a large static caravan with a double room, twin room and bunkbeds for £70 a night

Ever wanted to stay in a Mongolia Yurt? Ours has a four poster double bed, a single bed, a sofa bed and television al for just £75 a night.

We have spaces for campervans with electrical hook ups. Based on two people for a night the price will be £18. For each extra person simply add £3 a night.

We also have spaces for tents and an area for toilets, showers and an area to prepare some food. The price is £7 per person per night.

We always welcome dogs and even the occasional cat
