The Haven is a small, privately run family site, set in a good location for the resorts of West Dorset and the Jurassic Coast, as well as East Devon and Somerset.
Nearby coastal towns include, West Bay, Charmouth, Lyme Regis "the pearl of Dorset Coast", beloved of sandcastle architects and archaeologists alike. Seaton, Beer, Sidmouth and South Somerset are also all surrounded by beautiful countryside.
For those not wanting to sit on the beach, there are many historic homes and places of interest, such as the remarkable house and gardens of Forde Abbey. Good access is offered to National Trust gems such as Montacute House. Children's activities pursuit centres lead you into Somerset’s Cider country, with caves for exploration at Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole.
The amenities close by also include a social club, for those of you seeking more traditional entertainments of snooker, pool and skittle alleys.
The Haven is ideal for large golf parties. There is The Cricket St. Thomas Golf Club with its challenging course and wonderful views three miles north and the Lyme Regis Golf Club 10 miles south of our site. For those willing to travel a little further there is also the Oake Manor Golf Club just outside Taunton.
There is a useful shop on hand for self- catering necessities, together with good quality pubs and eateries in the locale including The Tytherleigh Arms Restaurant with a fine à la carte menu, Ye Olde Poppe Inn, a 16th Century coaching tavern with a cosy bar (come rain or shine!). Two of celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley–Wittingstall’s River Cottage locations may be found at Musbury in East Devon and Axminster, the setting for his informal canteen and deli. Chard offers a range of takeaways with a good delivery service.
