Kariega Game Reserve is already one of our go-to destinations for safaris on the Eastern Cape, and now I have visited there, I will sell it with even more enthusiasm.
The family-owned Big 5 private reserve is malaria-free and located along the Garden Route, roughly an hour and a half from Port Elizabeth.
Their five lodges suit a range of budgets and offer game drives, guided walking and boating along their two rivers. With passionate guides and a variety of wildlife it is the perfect safari destination to include in your Eastern Cape holiday.

Jaci’s Safari Lodges was the next stop on my trip to Madikwe. The original lodge was built by the owners in the 1990s and you can see Jaci’s influence throughout the lodges and accommodation with her bright choice of interiors. As well as striking tented suites there is also the Jaci’s Star bed experience which isn’t to be missed.
In between game drives, Jaci’s offers you the opportunity of viewing wildlife at eye level in their photographic hide, sunken in the middle of a waterhole. An experience I will never forget as I watched elephants come to drink and cool off from the heat.

“Never seen so many animals in one place in all my life”
A mid-trip update from my incredible visit to Tanzania last week.
I travelled to some of the most famous wildlife destinations in Tanzania, namely Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park.
I was hosted by @lemalacampslodges and got to witness some phenomenal sights, as well as being treated to expert guiding and great hospitality.
More updates to follow…
Sunrise from my balcony at Lemala Mpingo Ridge, overlooking Tarangire National Park.
Spot the hot air balloon!
The views from this lodge are spectacular 🤩

A wonderful day @lemalacampslodges Mpingo Ridge, Tarangire National Park.
So happy to be back in Tanzania!
The next week will be spent exploring Northern Tanzania…
• Tarangire ✅
• Ngorongoro
• Ndutu
• Central Serengeti
• Eastern Serengeti
• Northern Serengeti
(PS. The Serengeti is massive!)
Thank you @lemalacampslodges for being such great hosts! 🙏
A very quick 24hrs at The Safari Series but I am so glad we fitted it in. The Lolldaiga Hills are breathtaking. Such incredible scenery with stunning sunrises and sunsets. We added Grevy Zebras and Oryx to our wildlife list and it was all topped off with an amazing leopard sighting before sunrise. Camp life is great fun - communal eating and swapping stories around the fire in the evening. The owners Moon and Ed are inspiring and we loved hearing about their grand plans for the future.
Family safaris just got easier…
PCR tests are no longer required to enter Kenya! 🎉
Some happy Friday news 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Walking with 🦒🦒🦒 on the shores of Lake Naivasha.
We love teaching Elsa about wildlife and sharing experiences with her.
This was her first time seeing really large animals on foot.
She was curious, but also wanted to make sure dad was still close by.
We try to teach her to be what we call “cautiously adventurous”.
What animal would you love to show your children in the wild for the first time?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… (unless you’re a wildebeest, then it’s quite stressful!)
It’s the end of July, and the great migration is reaching its most exhilarating peak as a wildlife spectacle.
The two-million strong mega-herds are crossing from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara and back, in search of fresh grass to graze.
This journey is fraught with peril and involves many dangerous river crossings.
Each day, large numbers are lost to the rushing water, the waiting crocs, or from being injured in the melee.
Hungry lions, and other predators, wait to pick off the weak after the crossings are complete.
This time five years ago, Mike was able to witness this huge crossing of the Mara river in the northern Serengeti. Over a period of 45 minutes, thousands of wildebeest took the plunge and braved the journey.
Would you like to see this on safari? Or would you find it too dramatic? Tag someone who’d love to experience it.
