Personal post: August was a rollercoaster of a month, as I knew it would be. It started with both teens away at festivals (Boardmasters and Boomtown) and our first trip as a couple without them. The nerves surrounding our eldest getting A-level results and securing a place at uni were insane. Then there was me turning 50. How is that possible? Surely, I’m only 35?! And then, just a week later, it was our youngest’s GCSE results and the stress of getting into sixth form. All in the space of one week!
As well as turning the big Five-O, it was also the anniversary of because, yanno, I bought an Ambassador wedding car on my birthday. What a present, babes!

There’s been lots to celebrate, that’s for sure, but always and forever, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful car. She brings joy to everyone she meets, and I’m one very lucky (old) lady to call her mine.

15 years together and many more to come I hope 💞

Happy Betwixmas or that weird and wonderful week between Christmas and New Year when you eat chocolate for breakfast, elevensies, brunch, lunch, pudding, afternoon tea, aperitifs, tea, dinner, dessert, supper and sofa snacks. Or is it just me? Stuffed! 🐷

Husband was mute, kept scrolling phone and son said why do you need one day, why can't you celebrate every day? He's right of course but there's just that slight spanner of the patriarchy in the way. I also suggested we celebrate the day in November where women work for free until the end of the year because of the gender pay gap. It's me, Hi! I'm the problem, it's me. Actually, it's not. Something happened this week, and usually I would doubt my decision and be mean to myself. This time, I didn't listen to that negative voice. I did something that in 12 years of running Kushi Cars, I've never had to do. Bear with, it's a long story but I'll make it short. Promise. I had been negotiating with a client back and forth about their 2023 wedding. After a fair few emails, where I felt they were playing hardball over price, timings and a photo trip, all went quiet for a week. Being a prime summer date, I asked if everthing was OK. What came back, knocked me for six. The client sent amendments to our Terms and Conditions in red, with the caveat that these were to make them feel better and if I agreed to them, they would pay the deposit ASAP. I was stunned! After 24 hours and a terrible night's sleep, I pulled out of their wedding. You may recall weddings were shut down for 18 months during the pandemic, with little or no help for most from the Government. I took 2 jobs to keep Kushi Cars on the road. Garaging, servicing, insurances, repairs to name but a few. The costs are numerous and great. Our T&Cs were rewritten by a solicitor during the pandemic to offer us better protection. For someone to come in and rewrite them is downright offensive. It left me with no choice but to withdraw our offer. And you know what, we may just have avoided a whole world of pain with this one. What have we learnt? To trust our gut. To know our worth. And to call people out who overstep the mark. 12 years in, we've earned those rights. Doing this to a small, independent business is never, ever OK. Thanks for getting this far, love you bye. Sometimes we stay still! Welcoming guests to Aman and Lauren's wedding as part of a static display. Two iconic Indian vehicles - the Ambassador and a Tuk Tuk to wow and amaze guests as they arrived. Booking out the entire hotel 20 minutes away (@thebullfairford) meant they went all out, hiring a vintage black cab and red bus for their guests. Beauties aren't they and for once, I had friends outside! Will had a little drive of @kushicars, Charlotte looked worried but lived to enjoy the rest of the day!
