✨Happy IWD gals ✨ I asked my husband and son how they are going to celebrate the women in their lives for IWD. Husband was mute, kept scrolling phone and son said why do you need one day, why can't you celebrate every day? He's right of course but there's just that slight spanner of the patriarchy in the way. I also suggested we celebrate the day in November where women work for free until the end of the year because of the gender pay gap. They turned the telly up then! 😆

2022 has been flat-out and for that we are grateful. Another healthy and happy turn around the sun. Next year might be 'interesting' but we've been through worse. Everything crossed.

It's me, Hi! I'm the problem, it's me. Actually, it's not.
Something happened this week, and usually I would doubt my decision and be mean to myself. This time, I didn't listen to that negative voice.
I did something that in 12 years of running Kushi Cars, I've never had to do. Bear with, it's a long story but I'll make it short. Promise.
I had been negotiating with a client back and forth about their 2023 wedding. After a fair few emails, where I felt they were playing hardball over price, timings and a photo trip, all went quiet for a week. Being a prime summer date, I asked if everthing was OK. What came back, knocked me for six.
The client sent amendments to our Terms and Conditions in red, with the caveat that these were to make them feel better and if I agreed to them, they would pay the deposit ASAP.
I was stunned! After 24 hours and a terrible night's sleep, I pulled out of their wedding.
You may recall weddings were shut down for 18 months during the pandemic, with little or no help for most from the Government. I took 2 jobs to keep Kushi Cars on the road. Garaging, servicing, insurances, repairs to name but a few. The costs are numerous and great.
Our T&Cs were rewritten by a solicitor during the pandemic to offer us better protection. For someone to come in and rewrite them is downright offensive. It left me with no choice but to withdraw our offer. And you know what, we may just have avoided a whole world of pain with this one.
What have we learnt? To trust our gut. To know our worth. And to call people out who overstep the mark. 12 years in, we've earned those rights. Doing this to a small, independent business is never, ever OK.

Sometimes we stay still! Welcoming guests to Aman and Lauren's wedding as part of a static display. Two iconic Indian vehicles - the Ambassador and a Tuk Tuk to wow and amaze guests as they arrived. We even bumped into one of our lovely couples from 8 years ago. Still happily married with two little boys on board! Aman and Lauren walked into their reception to a Dre/sax/dhol drum intro which was just INCREDIBLE 🎷🔥

October sunshine for Aimee and Alec in Stroud yesterday. How lucky were they considering the all-day torrential rain today? Oof.
