Cheltenham Gold Cup March 2025:

Due to the unexpected cancellation of a long-standing booking we now have our Apartment available again for the Gold Cup Festival.

Min 4 nights, £220 per night, for 1 or 2 people, in a king-size double en-suite bedroom, sitting/ dining room, kitchen, private parking space, access to EV charging point.

A second en-suite bedroom available if required (at extra cost); shorter stays of 2 or 3 nights available ( at extra cost).

Bookings via AirBnB or Booking. com possible, but be aware that their commission charges add around 15% to the price quoted above.

Super-Fast Internet has arrived at Homelands! As a semi-rural business we have been hoping for years that Fibre Optic cables would reach our Lane, but no.... the nearest access point is 400 Yards away, but that could as well have been 4,000 Miles. So the StarLink disk has been fitted, the connections made, and the settings adjusted. Expect a speed of around 100-120 Mbps - more than enough to Game, Play, Work and Update your Social Media on multiple devices without delays, buffering or outages.

Yesterday we visited a place in Gloucestershire we had never heard of before. It is approx. 45 min by car from Homelands, and well worth a visit! It's called "Purtons Ship Graveyard". Nice to do and see something that is not 'on the tourist trail'. Some 80 ships have been beached here to strengthen the riverbank and prevent flooding during storms and Spring tides.

25-27 May 2024: Cotswolds Festival of Steam: Currently the Apartment is still available for the 26th and 27th. The GWR line runs within a few hundred yards from Homelands, so it is easy to find a local spot nearby where you can make the most fantastic pictures.

A new Italian Restaurant just opened in Bishops Cleeve: "La Vecchia Banca". First reports and reviews are very positive, we hope to try it out soon and hope we can add it to our recommended list.

Due to a short notice cancellation we now have accommodation available during the Cheltenham Races, later this week, 17-19 November 2023. Online bookings via FaceBook are the cheapest, alternatively you can book via booking. com or AirBnB which is around 15% more expensive.

Video of our 'discovery' of Spoony Wood Roman Villa'

Another local discovery walk brought us from Homelands via Cleeve Common (at 1,000+' high Cleeve Hill is officially a 'mountain') to 'Spoonly Wood Roman Villa' near Charlton Abbots; the beautifully maintained Park Estate nr Sudeley Castle, 'The Lion Inn' Pub in Winchcombe for a delicious lunch; Gretton, the Prescott Hill Climb site, Gotherington (steam) Railway Station, and back to Woodmancote.

All these interesting spots can be reached on foot from Homelands following the brilliant network of local tracks, the Cotswolds Way National Trail, Permissive Paths and byways.

Finding the 'Spoonly Wood Roman Villa' was a bit of an adventure - it is well off the beaten track. See the video - does it remind you of Raiders of the lost Ark?

This is just such great beautiful, walking country. This morning brought us from Homelands to Queens Wood, Belas Knap Ancient Monument, Winchcombe -for lunch at The White Hart, Gretton- to have a look at The Royal Oak, and Gotherington, with its super Steam Railway.
