Over a decade of experience in Sports Science and Physiology, combined with real world application of busy fathers with demanding jobs
The Samnite Gladiators were the lesser known elite of the Roman world. Using our expertise in the physiology of training we won't shout about our techniques and who is hitting what personal best....we will just make our athletes better performers to challenge the very best in their discipline. With so much conflicting advice out there, we have combined our practical experience coaching athletes an
d working alongside professional coaches, with a wealth of sound scientific knowledge of how the body responds to training and how to get results. This has resulted in our ability to work together with your club, or individual talented athletes, and create an environment of excellence to improve performance. It's not just about the numbers of how strong fit or fast you are, it's preparing you to perform at the best of your ability and win when it matters.

On a fact finding mission:
"I'm a father of two. Manic job. List of DIY to do. How on earth do I find time to get to the gym?"
Does this sound like anyone you know? I'd love to chat with them and see if I can help. I'm not selling a course or training, just seeing where my experiences can genuinely help young dads trying to "do it all".
Please share and get in touch!

You’ve had a lot of success at work, hitting targets, promotions and recognition. But what you really love is getting in the gym, on the bike, in the pool and beating your personal best. Except the improvements have stopped. Actually you’ve gone backwards a little. Have you tried all the new things? Supplements? New coach? Sure there is a little bump, but it’s not long and you’ve slid back to the dreaded plateau. 2014 was a long year completing PhD experiments, and a change in life circumstances this year has meant Samnite Performance is going to be changing slightly. Moving away from traditional S&C/Sports Science and focussing on supporting full-time amateur athletes remotely.
In the meantime, we're on a fact finding mission to see how we can really help people reach their goals! Please share this with anyone that works hard in their job and also trains bloody hard for their goals too.
For the final experiment for my PhD I am conducting an in depth analysis of strength training in simulated altitude (hypoxia). I am currently looking for people who are regularly using resistance training to take part in London from September 15th to… [ 380 more words. ]

Positive Habits of Athletes
Every day you see inane “motivational” pictures to get you up, out of your chair and to train. Unfortunately a lot have the opposite effect long term, rubbing it in if you have dared to “fail” and get injured, or simply convey if… [ 455 more words. ]

The Samnite Gladiators were the lesser known elite of the Roman world. They had less resources but punched far above their weight.
This is about being the man you say you are. Not some perfectly preened, sculpted, 3 hours a day in the gym and all meals prepped for the next millennia. If you want bodybuilding advice, there are plenty of other resources out there.
I studied Sports Science for over a decade, working with professional sports, down to the average Joe. I thought it was all about that top end. Maximising the very best. But to be completely honest, it’s fake. It’s not real. Someone who’s entire day is dedicated to working out and pushing for that extra 0.1% is going to be VERY different from you or me.
I’m a father of two. A failed (so far) PhD student in exercise physiology. A medical sales rep. I’ve had injuries, gained weight, lost it, passed out from exhaustion, ended up in hospital, made good and bad decisions, but I know what is important. Family.
Samnite Performance is for those that don’t have time to train like a professional, but want to feel great and let that energy shine on their kids. To be strong enough, and flexible enough for any situation. To be a picture of health, rather than a do as I say not as I do, kind of man.
It’s not just about exercises and diet. It’s a forever commitment to yourself. To be the man you would look up to. Not perfect, but supported by a group of people with like-minded focus. Finding those 15-20 minutes each day to look after yourself, so you can look after others. Creating a legacy.
