Romantic Rural Retreat South Wales

The Welsh Gatehouse is a luxury, award winning period property, built in the time of Edward I, (approx. 1270). The first historical mention of this building was in 1307 when Bogo de Knovil died and his estate reverted to the Crown, so it boasts seven hundred years of history. It is considered a ‘particularly important building’, and is one of only five percent of buildings in the UK that are Grade II*.

My friend and weaver Emma Finch https://www.facebook.com/emma.finch.9461?locale=en_GB and I spent 2 lovely days repairing Spirit Horse. Soaked the willow for 8 days first, and then did a good rebuild. She is looking fabulous now.

We just watched THE WELSH GATEHOUSE which featured on todays episode of ESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY. It aired at 3pm today (31 January 2022) on BBC1 but you can watch it on catchup on iPlayer. Thoroughly enjoyable. If you’ve been to our holiday let, the Welsh Gatehouse, and want a little reminder, watch it at about 23 minutes in. Let us know what you thought. We were delighted.
