Fancy doing something COVID-friendly out and about with all the family this Christmas? Then why not take them all on the ‘Giant Christmas Window Hunt’ through Magor, Caldicot & Chepstow!

Simply pick up a trail guide from Chepstow Tourist Information Centre or one of the other shops listed, and follow the instructions. All you need to do is drive to the streets listed, find the decorated window and guess the film/song.

Once you have found the answers, return your answer sheet to one of the shops by Fri 8th Jan and the winner of both the trail and the most popular favourite window will be announced in January!

Trail guides cost £5 and all proceeds go towards the Kre8tive Theatre Kidz Academy of Performing Arts and their fantastic productions throughout 2021 (www.kre8tivetheatre.com).

Good luck all. Enjoy!

🚢 🛳 🍾

On this day 21st April 1920 one hundred years ago the first of the huge pre-fabricated ships that had begun to be built in National Shipyard no 1 at Chepstow during the First World War, was finally launched. The War Glory was launched with great ceremony, a much photographed and well-remembered occasion witnessed by thousands, who crowded the slipways, lined the riverbank and the cliffs overlooking the Wye.

Within just over a minute of moving the ship was fully waterborne. She was fitted complete with engines and launched “steam up” ready for service. Several tugs were in attendance to take her down the Wye and their whistles shrieked as the War Glory itself hooted triumphantly. ⚓️

A stunning low tide Severn estuary find by Black rock lave net fishermen during the spring storms.
A W.W. 2 ARMY HELMET ! (We think ! ) 😀
Venturing far off shore just west of the lave net fishing grounds to an area rarely uncovered we found this helmet.
we would of done a video but the wind was screaming !
It would have fallen apart if lifted so we left it there.......... 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We all need a bit of blue sky, mountains and spring sunshine at the moment and there’s nothing like a dose of fresh air and wide open space to help us feel less anxious and not so overwhelmed. Walking is good for our physical and mental well-being at any time but perhaps even more so now as the range of activities available to us becomes more limited and we practise social distancing. www.visitmonmouthshire.com/walking

For those already self-isolating at home, we’ll continue to post regular photos of our stunning landscape so you don’t miss out on the seasonal changes, and on the opportunity and benefits of feeling a little closer to nature.

We are developing hand sanitiser which we hope to have ready in some form by Saturday for our ‘Panic buying at the distillery’ shopping event. The sanitiser will be free but limited to 1 bottle per person.

We feel a responsibility help the community in our local area as best we can. We need to stick together, look out for each other but be smart.

With love x

Quite possibly the most beautiful photograph i've seen showcasing Wild Boar & Fallow Deer here in the Forest of Dean

The message is simple "This is why people need to slow down on Forest of Dean roads"
