🏗 Work is progressing well at Stephenson Memorial Hall!

The flooring, seating and stage have now been removed from the theatre so that the structure of the building can be worked on. The historic panelling has either been protected with temporary covers or removed to be securely stored and will be fully restored before reopening.

Strip-out works are continuing, with new openings created to re-configure the building and make it a single cultural venue.

Externally the brickwork has been cleaned and repointing work has begun. On Station Back Lane the team have started preparing to build the new back of house area.

Together these works will help protect the building but also create a new enhanced visitor experience with an extended theatre, a reconfigured museum, new gallery space, a café bar, education and community facilities.

You can find out more about the project by visiting: www.chesterfield.gov.uk/stephenson-memorial-hall
