This purpose built Visitor Information Centre will help you to make the most of your visit to Chesterfield Area. We have leaflets and posters on events, attractions, where to stay, where to eat, bus times and train times. We also sell a range of tickets – from theatre seats to local events such as Ashover Show, Chesterfield Cricket Festival and the Rail Ale Festival at Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre.

💃| Save the date – our 1940s market returns this spring!

The action-packed market will be returning on Thursday 10 April 2025, transporting the town centre back to the 1940s with a range of free entertainment for the whole family to enjoy!

The event will take place during the Easter school holidays again and run alongside the popular weekly Thursday flea market.

Who's coming to Chesterfield Museum's annual Christmas carols with Holymoorside Band?

Huge thanks to St Bartholomew's Church for hosting the event this year.

What were the worst and most difficult jobs in the Victorian era?
Discover the joys of being a chimney sweep, railway worker, rat catcher or tosher!

Be sure to visit our free, interactive exhibition exploring life in the Victorian period and popular Christmas traditions.
Plenty of family fun including dressing up, Victorian toys and games and Christmas crafts such as crackers, cards and Christmas Zoetropes which originated from the Victorian period.

The exhibition and event is presented by Chesterfield Museum in partnership with St Bartholomew’s Church.

We are so excited that our annual outdoor carol concert with Holymoorside Band (which usually takes place at Revolution House) will be kindly hosted by St Bartholomew's Church.

The festive carols will start at 5.30pm and refreshments will be available beforehand in the church.

It is advised that visitors bring a torch with them to the carol service as it will be dark when the performance takes place.

We can’t wait to see you there.

Don't miss this fabulous exhibition and events that our friends at Chesterfield Museum are organising!

We’re counting down until our interactive Victorian Exhibition opens at St Bartholomew's Church on 9 December.

Come along and explore what life was like in the Victorian period, handle replica objects, dress up and play with Victorian toys and games.

Discover Christmas traditions and have a go at Christmas crafts such as crackers, cards and Christmas Zoetropes which originated from the Victorian period.

Don't miss our Dreadful Jobs! event where you can discover (and have a go at) some of the horrendous jobs that existed in the Victorian period and Carols with Holymoorside Band. Both events take place on Saturday 14 December.

🎄 Bluey will be appearing at our Christmas Lights Switch On and Market on Sunday 17 November!

Bluey will be appearing in New Square at intervals between 12noon and 3pm in New Square.

There will also be lots of fantastic entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

Come along and find out more about what they do and meet their volunteers and gorgeous four-legged friends.

Don't forget to have a look at the Chesterfield Menagerie exhibition exploring animals and their connection to Chesterfield and offering FREE interactive activities and animal themed crafts.

Don’t forget our Birds and Bees event tomorrow which is part of the Chesterfield Menagerie Exhibition.

Come along and learn about birds and their nests, how we can help them in Winter
and make your very own bird feeder* to take away.

You can also discover the world of minibeasts and take part in a minibeast Xplorer activity and find out more about Bees from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust.

We will be upstairs in the Market Hall from 11am to 3pm. No booking required, places allocated on a first come, first served basis.

This fun FREE exhibition is part of a series of Museum on the Move events which take place across the borough whilst Chesterfield Museum is closed for renovations. The events have been made possible due to funding Arts Council England
