🥾 Sunday Sussex walks 🥾 Stroll the stunning Shimmings Valley in Petworth, followed by Sunday lunch at The Angel Inn or the Stonemasons Inn - Petworth .
The walk is a figure of eight, starting and ending in Petworth and is around 3.5 miles long with some steep slopes and stiles, which make it unsuitable for wheelchairs or buggies (you dog might need lifting over).

Find the route plus loads of ideas for walks with pubs at the end as well as great places for a Sunday roast 👉 https://www.thegreatsussexway.org/ideas-and-inspiration/news-and-blogs/post/great-sussex-pubs-with-scenic-walks/

Beautiful Bosham - 25 mins drive from The Brambles …

The waterside village of Bosham on the shores of Chichester Harbour - an ideal setting off point for exploring the harbour on foot, by bike or maybe even on the water. Wander the pretty village - which has links with the Bayeaux Tapestry and King Canute - or tackle a longer walk around the harbour to work up an appetite at Bosham's The Anchor Bleu (booking recommended).

Littlewood Lookout on the National Trust’s Slindon Estate - a perfect stop off point for flask of coffee and marmalade sandwiches this morning. You can hike along the paths for miles in any direction or, as we did , take a shorter loop from the parking area at the end of Courthill Lane BN18ORL. Ten mins drive from The Brambles

I love seeing our local area through the eyes of our holiday guests, and it’s given me a much greater appreciation of where we live. The sky was silvery grey down on Aldwick Beach yesterday and the huts were closed up as families are back at school. BUT …. each one is like a very individual work of art. Some quirky, some classic. While Lotte ran along the prom, I sat next to the fountain amongst the grasses and shrubs in the beautiful Marine Park Gardens - better for the soul than meditation 🧘🏻☺️

The Brambles conservatory is ideal for enjoying the views of the garden in comfort at any time of day, or year . With its long wooden table, it’s perfect for our guests setting up a restaurant style supper - a romantic dinner for two or a group !

Lovely comments… Our 4 guests from Gouda, Netherlands were so lucky with the weather last week. We soon discovered we had lots in common - Mark brought his bike and whizzed off, cycling stretches of The South Downs Way 🚴‍♂️and apart from one damp day, the sun shone ! ☀️

20mins drive from The Brambles…Two walks with our binos in two days up at Lords Piece ( Coates Common ) Far from the madding crowd, we passed no one yesterday and only a few dog walkers today. Beautiful velvety black cattle roaming free, lots of butterflies, the tak tak of multiple Stonechats perched on gorse twigs and the call of Stock Doves … perfect weekend without spending a penny! 😉

The Brambles

My family have lived in this house, previously an Agricultural Nursery, since 1976. Dave & I, Lotte & Will moved back here in 2005. With a garden of 3 acres, the property has retained that feeling of rural isolation but is actually within walking distance of local Shops, Pub & an Indian Restaurant. The house is perfectly divided into two. The holiday accommodation has 2 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms - one a twin bed & the master bedroom can be configured as Super King size or twin. Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with wood-burner , study & fully equipped self catering kitchen. There is also an additional wet-room. The Conservatory leads onto a private secluded garden with its own gateway entrance. The garden has a very natural feel, with an abundance of wildlife all year. We all live on site & run a Pop up Restaurant from their kitchen a few times a month. Dave & I are very happy to provide home cooked meals for guests who would prefer to relax, stay in & let someone else do the work ! [to be pre-arranged with us] We are ideally located for events at #Goodwood, #Fontwell Racecourse, #Arundel & #Chichester Festivals. RSPB Pulborough, WWT Arundel, Pagham Nature Reserve, Kingley Vale & Southdowns National Park all with a 20 minute drive. We are 45 minutes drive from Portsmouth & Brighton & 10 minutes drive from The Coast. All bookings for The Brambles must be made via https://www.amberleyhousecottages.co.uk/Sussex/Holiday-cottage/The-Brambles/547517 Our Electricity Supply is ‘100% renewable sourced’. We also have some Solar Generation on the roof and all the cleaning products we use are as ‘Green’ as we can source. Looking forward to meeting you.... Pip & Dave
