โญ๏ธ The wonderful Atkinson building in Mayfair was finished one hundred years ago - it is adorned with details ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ scroll to see the grasshopper - and references to Caspar, Melchior & Balthasar - How appropriate for Epiphany I thought wanting to add a photo of that detail but sadly the heic format is not to IGโ€™s liking โ€” you will have to go & see it for yourselves ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿพ Established in 1972, by Janet and Rodney Pratt, Bolney Wine Estate in West Sussex is one of the first English wine estates. The famous Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris create the classic sparkling Bolney Bubbly and Blanc de Blancs.
๐Ÿพ With stormy winds & rains cutting electric power, it was over to Plan B โ€ฆ..no heating, no power, no chance of cooking in the kitchen, so the staff brilliantly adjusted with charcuterie boards, cheese, bread & olives & plenty of wine ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿ™‚ All Saints Margaret Street is a Grade I listed Victorian church in Fitzrovia, near Oxford Street, London. It is regarded as one of the foremost examples of High Victorian Gothic architecture in Britain.

๐Ÿ™‚ It was designed in 1850 by William Butterfield, an architect strongly associated with Gothic revival church building and the Oxford Movement. Completed in 1859, the red brick church was built around a small courtyard with an adjoining vicarage and a choir school.

๐Ÿ™‚ As you can see the interior is noted for its rich decoration and beautiful fittings โ€“ a true โ€œhidden gemโ€ in the streets of central London.

๐ŸŽ„ Iโ€™m looking forward to my first carol service of the season ๐ŸŽ„

๐Ÿ™‚ It lies in the graveyard of Southwark Cathedral & remembers Mahomet Weynomon an Indian chief who came to London in 1735 to petition for the return of native lands
๐Ÿ™‚ When he died in The City of smallpox he was not allowed to be buried there because he was a foreigner & was brought south of the River to an unmarked grave
๐Ÿ™‚ This memorial was commissioned at the request of the Mohegan tribe & dedicated by Elizabeth II

๐Ÿ™‚ Christโ€™s Hospital (CH) is one of the famous Royal Hospitals of London, whose foundation marked the beginning of the social services in Tudor England.

๐Ÿ™‚Inspired by a sermon by Nicholas Ridley, Bishop of London, the young King Edward VI instructed the Lord Mayor, Sir Richard Dobbs, to appoint a committee of leading citizens to consider remedies and relief for the Cityโ€™s homeless and poor.
๐Ÿ™‚Their work, and subsequently their philanthropy, led to the founding of the five great Hospitals all supporting different needs.
๐Ÿ™‚CH, established in the monastery of the Grey Friars in Newgate Street, embraced the task of educating and nourishing the destitute children of the City and took children of all social backgrounds and ages.

๐Ÿ™‚In November 1552, CH opened its doors to 380 pupils and, within a year, the number had increased to over 500

๐ŸŒบ This huge, bronze monument memorialises the women of World War II. It was unveiled in 2005 and the gold lettering on it is said to mimic the font of wartime ration books.

Around the outside, you can see 17 different sculpted uniforms and helmets. These uniforms represent hundreds of vital jobs undertaken by over 7 million women during the Second World War. However, when the war ended and the men returned to their jobs, women had to quietly hang up their uniforms

๐ŸŒบ The Flanders poppy was first described as the โ€˜Flower of Remembranceโ€™ by Colonel John McCrae, a medical officer with the Canadian army. ๐Ÿ™‚ Richmond House is a Grade II* listed building built in the 1980s, incorporating the 18th century Richmond Terrace.

๐Ÿ™‚ Richmond Terrace is built on the site of Henry VIII's White Hall Palace bowling green looking north towards the Privy Gardens.

๐Ÿ™‚The first Richmond House on this site was built around 1660 and occupied by Charles Stuart, 3rd Duke of Richmond from 1668.ย  After the Duke's death in 1672 his wife continued to live in it until her death in 1702. As there were no heirs it was taken over as an official building first by the Secretary of State and then by the Comptroller of Army Accounts.

๐Ÿ™‚ On completion in 1986 the building was occupied by the Department for Health and Social Security (DHSS) and named Richmond House.

๐Ÿ™‚ You can find it on Whitehall!
