Just want to write this to set right quite a few misunderstandings, where people have commented on our planning but haven't understood the planning application.
So I hope this will correct some of the incorrect comments received, as well as let people know our intentions:
Water harvesting:
Each pod will have installed a sedum roof ( living roof ), which uses the rain water to feed itself. Unused water gets purified by the sedum and goes to a water butt.
Hot tubs: These will be run burning UNTREATED wood normally send to landfill by our company. If we use logs then these will mean more trees being destroyed for our pleasure, that's not us.
The Hot tubs are CHEMICAL FREE so the water is then used to water the plants, which in summer will need it as its a very dry area.
Drainage: The site has a soak away which is Fed by our property & 1 other property, but its on our land.
No extra water from the pods will enter this soak away unnecessarily, also we are looking at harvesting more water to the toilets.
Septic tank: There suggestions on the website that we will be using our own property septic tank near our house? Well these are from people who don't know water doesn't run up hill 200m away with a rise of approx 8ft?
Of course there will be a new septic tank which if people visited, would see its been onside for months.
Wetland: This has been commented on by the farmer who sold us the land, but is untrue as documented letters & photos prove? The farmer even ploughed it ready for the sale to complete?
Disabled access: There has been comments regarding wheel chairs can't use mulch areas, YES we totally agree. But the mulch paths were laid 1 year prior to our discussion on a disabled unit. The disabled unit will have its own parking bay, with 2 ramps. 1st ramp to the pod & 2nd lower ramp to the pods private patio area. We have shown all our plans to not just disabled people to help plan the pod, but also disability organisations.
Cooking on site: There will be one central bbq/cooking area for all 3 pods NOT 1 each.
Washing up facility: No need as we will collect all dirty items as part of the experience, after all I wouldn't want to be washing up while I am away for a rest.
This will also encourage visitors to want to eat on site and not get into cars and keep leaving the site.
Parking: There will only be 3 parking spaces, 1 per pod. Disability pod will have its own closest to the entrance, the 2nd two pods will have one marked bay each.
Planting: Comments on planning are suggesting we have removed a section of hedging to form the entrance? This is untrue we actually removed 2 trees that were rotten & a 3rd tree which had fallen across our border with our neighbours. Bt insisted we remove the two rotten trees to avoid a £3000 fine as they was leaning of their cable. This was addressed ASAP by a contractor, not just to save the fine from bt but also to prevent them falling in the road. We have countered these trees by planting 120 Christmas trees in a forest track, 9 x 15ft silver birch trees, 8 palm trees and with more to come.
Parking area construction: The car park was constructed after we was informed that the trees were rotten due to poor drainage in that corner of the site.
* some comments suggest we removed 40 tons of quality rich soil, well if it was we would still have it? The removal was of 40 tons of clay not SOIL?
Expert advise said the only way to stop further drainage issues, was crushed concrete as water passes through it and also a deeper water soak away?
These have both been completed.
Thank you for the continued support shown by many, the council will make its own decision based on government guidelines.
Merry Christmas from Andy, Alison & Harvey
