Who's looking forward to Armed Forces weekend this year?

16-18 June - not long to go now.

It's going to be a great weekend again, with three bumper packed days of entertainment, ground and flying displays, the return of the Carnival on Friday, the wonderful parade on the Saturday, all supported by traders with marvellous food and drink and things to buy - all to support our armed forces, and thank them for their service.

Happy memories of Scatha Baths!!!! Who remembers ?

North East Lincolnshire Archives Reference: 45/902/11/11.

The swimming pool, which opened in December 1962, had almost half a million users by the end of the decade and was the source of considerable civic pride. The Grimsby Official Guide of 1968 includes the following description of the pool:

"The County Championship Swimming Pool measures 110 feet by 42 feet, with water depths ranging from 3 feet to 6 feet 6 inches; there is a centrally off-set diving bay 12 feet 6 inches deep, providing 1 and 3 metre spring boards and a 5 metre firm board. The whole water surface is therefore "T" shaped, having the unusual feature of two shallow ends, on which lines many new pools throughout the country have been designed."
