The Quiet Beauty of Pembrokeshire: Top Reasons to Visit This Winter.

🌊 Peaceful Beaches and Trails

🌅 Stunning Winter Sunsets
The winter months bring some of the year’s most beautiful sunsets, casting a soft glow over the hills and coastline.

⭐️ Dark Skies for Stargazing
With longer nights and clear winter skies, Pembrokeshire is perfect for stargazing. The area has some of the darkest skies in the UK, offering a chance to see constellations and planets.

🦭 Wildlife Spotting
Winter is prime time to see seal pups along the coast and migrating birds arriving for the season.

🔥 Cosy Evenings In Front Of The Fire
Each cottage has its own wood stove, offering the perfect cosy retreat after a day of sightseeing.

Pembrokeshire Coast: 3 Beaches, 3 Miles – A Perfect Day Out Awaits! Part Three: Discover Saundersfoot

Saundersfoot is a real treasure, with its golden sands and charming harbour steeped in history. Built over 185 years ago, the harbour has undergone major redevelopment and transformation in recent years with its new heritage centres.

Take a relaxing walk along the waterfront, watch the boats, or even try your hand at crabbing at The Crabbing Centre. The Blue Flag beach here is perfect for swimming, rock pooling, Paddleboarding, Kayaking and bike hire from Good Trails, and yes, dogs are welcome with some seasonal restrictions 🐾

If you’re up for more exploring, hop on a boat for a sea safari or test your luck with sea fishing. And when you need a break, stop by MamGu Welshcakes or Lan y Môr Restaurant Saundersfoot for some delicious Welsh treats and views over Coppet Hall Beach.

For a bit of adventure, follow the Coastal Path for a scenic 3.5-mile walk to Tenby, passing rugged cliffs, countryside, and woodland with stunning views of the Welsh coastline.

Pembrokeshire Coast: 3 Beaches, 3 Miles – A Perfect Day Out Awaits! Part Two: Discover Wisemans Bridge Pembrokeshire

Imagine standing on the same sand where history was made back in July 1943! Wisemans Bridge was part of Exercise Jantzen, a big D-Day rehearsal that got troops ready for WWII landings. Now, though, the beach couldn’t be more different; it’s all about calm waves, relaxing walks, and stunning views.

You can easily walk from Amroth to Wisemans Beach and then on to Saundersfoot along a flat mile-long path that takes you through three historic tunnels once used by coal trains heading to Saundersfoot harbour And when the tide’s really low, you can walk along the beach all the way between Amroth and Saundersfoot!

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs right through here, offering loads of trails and rock pools to discover, along with some hidden history. If you need a break, Wiseman's Bridge Inn has outdoor seating with stunning beach views!

🐾Dogs are welcome on the beach all year! Parking is free but limited up above the beach. And don’t forget to check the tide times to make the most of your visit!

October Sunshine at Druidstone Haven! 🌊✨

Tucked between Nolton Haven and Broad Haven, Druidstone is easy to miss while driving along the coast. But if you find it, you’re in for a treat with its stunning sandy bay surrounded by impressive cliffs on three sides—it’s the perfect spot for a lovely Autumn stroll and exploring rock pools during low tide. 📍SA62 3NE

Just a quick note: There's no roadside parking available, so it’s best to park in the public car parks in Nolton or Broad Haven, where you can enjoy a scenic walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. While there’s no direct road to the beach, every step of the journey is worth it! The coastal views are breath-taking in both directions, whether you’re coming from the north or the south.

Don’t miss the Druidstone Hotel perched on the cliff! This quirky gem is known for having some of the best beer garden views views in Pembrokeshire. Locals call it “the Dru,” and it has a cosy bar and restaurant with fantastic food. Their Feast Nights are a must-try, and enjoy live music and other fun events.

Look out for horses on the beach! The nearby riding school often brings them down to enjoy the sand. Also, be sure to check the tide times before you head out; keeping an eye on the water will help you enjoy your time worry-free!

🐾Dog friendly beach all year round.

Pembrokeshire Coast: 3 Beaches, 3 Miles – A Perfect Day Out Awaits!
Part One: Discover Amroth!

Pembrokeshire’s coast never disappoints, and autumn is the perfect time to visit with fewer visitors and and beautiful golden sandy beaches to enjoy

Historically, Amroth was an important mining center for iron ore and high-quality anthracite coal until the 19th century.

The village also marks the start (or end) of the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, leading you all the way to St. Dogmaels.

Make sure to look out for the remains of a petrified forest that appears at low tide. You might spot ancient tree stumps and fossils peeking through the sand, dating back to the last ice age!

While you're there, why not stop by The Pirate Café for some of Pembrokeshire’s best fish and chips, Smugglers Bar-Grill & adventure play for delicious pancakes or enjoy a cosy Sunday lunch at Amroth Arms. Both spots are dog-friendly, with outdoor seating and stunning coastal views! 🌊🐾

Or take a lovely walk to Colby Woodland Garden! It’s only a ¾-mile stroll along the public footpath beside the Amroth Arms. The walled gardens close at the end of October, but the woodland stays open until mid-December.

🍂 Afternoon Tea & Seasonal Flavours Await!🍂🎃

Sundays (and every day) are perfect for a treat, and the Afternoon Tea at Caffi'r Sgwar in Maenclochog (pronounced ‘mine-cloch-og’), just a 5-minute drive from our cottages, is receiving excellent reviews.

They serve delicious afternoon teas daily from 2.30pm and you can enjoy it inside or outside in one of their cosy new pods. Plus, from 15th November - 15th December, they’ll have a special Christmas Afternoon Tea! Takeaway option available, make sure to book in advance—just give them a call at 01437 532078, and remember to give them 48 hours’ notice.

Oh, and don’t forget to try their October specials: ✨ Pumpkin Spiced Latte / Cappuccino ✨ Pumpkin Spiced Hot Chocolate ✨ Spiced Chai Latte

They also offer great breakfasts, lunches, and a selection of tea, coffee, and cakes!

Maenclochog is a lovely village at the foothills of the Preseli Mountains. Nearby Pantmaenog Forest has over 12 km of trails and Rosebush, just 1.5 miles north, giving you direct access to fantastic walking routes on the Preseli Hills.

How about treating yourself to afternoon tea after a nice walk? 🍁☕️
