River Cottages

Situated on the banks of the River Cocker with its own private paddock, these sensitively refurbished Victorian mill cottages have splendid views of the northwestern fells (Grisedale Pike, Hopegill Head, Grasmoor and Whiteside) and a picturesque 19th century stone bridge and paddock. Dogs are welcome to swim in the river and play in the two-acre paddock, shared only with the handful of guests in t

he adjoining cottages. Just under half a mile of the river is privately owned, so fishing for salmon, trout and sea trout is permitted at no additional cost, just as long as you have the correct rod license. A footpath leads from the cottage into the lovely market town of Cockermouth (2.5 miles) and there are numerous pathways into the surrounding countryside. In fact, the National Park border lies just over the stone bridge!
