I stumbled upon these Daleks doing their shopping early on Invasion Day last year. I was really chuffed because I’d only popped out for travel sickness tablets!
It just goes to show, you never do know what you’re going to stumble upon in Colchester! It could be a Roman gateway that’s 2000 years old or it might be Daleks from the planet Skaro 🪐
@invasion_colchester is a fantastic home-grown Colchester event which sees the entire city transformed with a friendly invasion of superheroes and characters raising money for local charities! ❤️ Last year they raised over £1500! It’s normally in September so do check back on their website to see when it’ll be on this year! 📆

What a fab week of special, uniquely Colchester events! Colchester is one of only 13 Gun Saluting Stations in the country as specially chosen by Queen Elizabeth II in 2008! So it’s a real treat that we can have this event for special Royal occasions (this one honours King Charles’ birthday!) Beforehand, you’ll have the added bonus of a bandstand concert from Colchester’s very own British Army Band! 🕵️♀️ there it is! The North Gate of Colchester’s Roman wall doesn’t really exist any more but you can see the remnants of the 2000 year old wall that surrounded it tucked in between King Kebab and North Hill Barbers. Check it out next time you’re bracing yourself for the hike up North Hill!
