Weekly Rewild
Acts of Kindness and Positive Affirmations 💗
Monday
We began the week with our Year 5 Nurture Group, who braved the chilly morning to prepare Campfire Cheesy Toasties. Beyond the warmth of the fire, the session was enriched by the kindness and comaraderie of the students. As they listened attentively and responded with empathy, strengthening their connections, making the experience even more enriching.
In the afternoon, we welcomed our Year 7 and Year 8 Nurture Group students, including some first time visitors. Their enthusiasm was infectious as they explored the woodland, climbing, swaying on the tree-swing, and fully immersing themselves in nature. It was wonderful to witness their curiosity and adventurous spirit in action.
We ended the day gathered around the campfire, toasting marshmallows - a simple yet perfect way to nurture friendships.
Tuesday
We started the day with the first of this week's Early Years Curriculcum Enrichment Sessions, focussing on the importance of "Kindness" in everyday interactions.
The Reception children explored different ways to demonstrate kindness, actively listening to one another, expressing their thoughts while considering others' feelings, and practicing turn-taking in games. These small yet meaninful actions helped reinforce key values such as empathy and respect.
Later, we revisited Fire Safety, where the children had the exciting opportunity to safely use a flint and steel to strike a fire. We also explored key shapes associated with fire safety, such as sitting in a fire CIRCLE and ensuring the fire SQUARE is securely positioned in the center. The children were introduced to the fire TRIANGLE, learning about its three essential elements: fuel, heat, and oxygen.
It was a fantastic day fillled with hands-on learning, teamwork, and discovery!
Wednesday
Wednesdays are always a favourite, as we immerse ourselves in the tranquility of our own woodland. The morning was dedicated to campfire cooking, with the students taking the initiative to gather the perfect, 'snappy sticks' to fuel the fire. They meticulously constructed the fire-lay, in preparation for a special treat: Campfire Rocky Road.
As always, kindness was at the heart, with one portion made for the group to enjoy, while another was prepared to gift to a family member or friend. Safe to say, it was absolutely delicious!
Thursday
The chilly start to the day was quickly brightened by the enthusiasm, of the Early Years group. We discussed the power of small acts of kindness and how they make a big difference to our friends.
To stay warm and active, we played our Forest School game, 1, 2, 3,... Where Are You? The children found some incredible hiding spots, and their excited calls echoed through the settings garden. Their energy was truly contagious!
In the afternoon, we welcomed two Intervention Groups: one from Year 5 and the other from Year 6. Together, we reflected on the past week, each sharing a positive moment they had experienced or something they were looking forward to during the upcoming half-term holiday. As we gathered around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, this shared moment helped strengthen the sense of community among the groups.
Friday
As the final day of term arrived, it was hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. For our Year 5 and Year 6 Education Re-Engagement Session, we chose to recreate the popular Campfire Rocky Road, a sweet treat perfect for Valentines Day. The activity sparked wonderful conversations about kindness and the impact of our words and actions have on others. Each student gifted their extra potion to a friend, family member, or valentine.
This week at Broadleaf Forest Adventures CIC has been filled with learning, laughter, and countless acts of kindness. Now, who's ready for Holiday Club? We can't wait to see what exciting adventures await us next week!
