Once upon a time there was a delightful little cottage, that nestled in the heart of a lovely village called Port Navas, in Cornwall. Beautifully decorated and furnished, the cottage was admired by all. It looked out every day upon the little slipway, just yards from its front door, to the yachts and boats bobbing up and down in the creek beyond. On summers evenings it would twinkle its lights upo
n the waters, welcoming its guests home after they had enjoyed a meal and a drink from the local yacht club bar, or the nearby Trengilly Wartha pub. In colder months it would snuggle up with its guests, with the glow of its woodburner casting shadows of flickering flames upon the walls, whilst the Aga would cook delicious hot, hearty meals to nourish both the body & soul of the people within. It was a very happy home. It loved where it lived and the quiet village waterside life it enjoyed. Sometimes, when the air is still and the phosphorescence is twinkling on the calm waters of the creek, it is said that you can actually hear the cottage whisper...“Come and visit me...shhh..stay a while... I have wifi and a smart telly too.”
Magical.

More hectic scenes from the mean streets of Port Navas!
Today has been one of those picture perfect blue sky, no ripples on the duckpond, kind of days at Port Navas.Fluffly white clouds and a gently rising tide. The fish are, quite literally, jumping. ( Every now and then there is a swish of the water, and a tell tale fin of a mullet disturbs the surface...

Two men, and their dogs, create gridlock at Port Navas. (Potentially)
It's all go now the rain has stopped and the sun is just about poking its head through the clouds, here in Cornwall.Main thing with me is to get the boat looking ship shape, prior to it being craned back into the water at Gweek boatyard, ready for the Easter rush at Port Navas.. i.e there may be two...

Honestly, the fun never ends
A strange man, wielding a long gun, was present outside Navas Nook today. (A strange, tubby, middle aged man wearing wellies and waterproofs to be precise) Of course the gun was a pressure washer gun*, for that's what they're called to us DIYers in the know, and I just had to write something with it...

It's a win win win for the marketing dept this week!
There's a new top dog in downtown Port Navas this week. He's mean, he's menacing and he's ..well, none of these things actually. His name is 'Jake' and he's a gorgeous golden retriever. Obviously on guard at Navas Nook (aka "the cottage'). Could there be a better photo? Not to be outdone here's our....
Roll up roll up and get your Port Navas Marmalade here! I popped down to the cottage this morning to see a little business enterprise had re-appeared on the cottage garden wall. It seems that the lovely Annabelle, next door, has been busy in her kitchen, creating lovely orange-based preserves. Sadly...
So it came to pass that I was outside this cottage this morning, early doors, and thought I'd capture the scene looking out over Port `Navas creek. Shhh... About 3/4 tide on the flood - all very calm and serene. A little Robin joined me for a bit, but sadly flew off before I could get all artsy on m...

We want you to be happy.
What you need is a week away from it all, in a tranquil cornish village by the sea.
Somewhat amazingly we have the first two weeks of September free.
Swim with Dolphins, paddle with Turtles & feed Penguins from your front door*
Lovely cottage by the Helford, with the amazing Annabelle next door and the yacht club just up the lane. (She is likely to be in either of these locations)
It really is growing season at the moment. The front garden, at the cottage, has gone absolutely bonkers. The old flymo did well though, and had the grass back in shape pretty quickly. However, I'm not that good on the gardening stuff. The flowers are looking spectacular, and all the foliage lush. I...
My eldest son, and his girlfriend, decided upon an early morning trip out in our little boat today. (Easter Sunday 2022) Very calm and serene in the creek. Of course I had to take a photo, just a the right moment when my boat was in the background. Sadly no fish were caught, but I don't think that t...

What a gorgeous morning. After dropping youngest son to the bus stop, for school, I decided to pop to Port Navas and launch our little dinghy back into the creek for the start of the season. Not a breath of wind, gorgeous sunshine, and not a soul about. Just the swans serenely drifting about the hig...
Seasons greetings from Port Navas. Decided to walk down the slip and take a snap of the boats this morning. Quite a few people about, doing post Boxing day doggie walks with family. Must admit, it looked a bit chilly out on the water. More of a snuggle up by the fire kind of day, than a paddle board...
Well, I wasn't expecting that! This morning my wife, Lucy, asked me to go and meet a chap from a film crew who are looking to rent our cottage for a week next year. So there I was at 8am, on the dot, expecting nothing more than a chap with a clipboard. Said chap arrived, then another, then three big...
Very peaceful up Port Navas creek this morning. Getting towards the end of the season and there are some big boats on the Yacht Club 'beach' where, during the summer months, all the dinghies and tenders are moored. It's quite a handy spot to over winter a boat, as the ground is firm so you can get u...

Just a nip of autumn in the air today as I went for a little evening trip around the river, in our little Orkney spinner 13, with my wife Lucy, and our camera shy Jack Russell, Jake. Very calm though. Been watching a Youtube sailing channel recently, and the chap refers to it being 'Bin Bags' when t...

A few musings on the Public Slipway at Port Navas.
I love the Public slip in Port Navas. Throughout the summer there are always people launching dinghies, paddle boards & Kayaks from there. This week our guests at Navas Nook have brought their boat down for a bit of creek crawling around the Helford. Here she is for the week, on the visitors pontoon...
This is my little MK1 Cornish Crabber, Mivvy. She's 45 years old, bless her. I went down to the cottage today, to mow the lawn and generally fettle on. Couldn't resist a little walk, up to the Yacht club, to take a photo. It was a lovely morning and the air was absolutely still, with the tide out. I...
