In 2007 Jim Young founded Adventurous Ewe following a jam packed 8 years of grassroots guiding across 4 continents for Exodus Travels. Discovering vast countries, cultures, environments, mountains, deserts, coast

s and jungles; and always up for taking the path less travelled. Furnished with a huge passion for adventure travel, Jim returned to his home in Snowdonia with a burning desire to create authentic, personable, fun and ethical travel experiences in his homeland. Adventurous Ewe has since grown to provides extraordinary adventure travel experiences across the planet in a safe, sustainable, meaningful and fun manner with real connections to people and places. There’s something truly magical about stepping off the beaten path and showcasing destinations that deserve the spotlight. 🇬🇪

Georgia - a land where myths and legends spring from every forest, rock, and stream - is one of those extraordinary places.

Having trekked the Greater Caucasus mountain range in 2019, I was absolutely blown away by the depth of culture and history woven into every corner of this remarkable country.

For centuries, Georgia has been a crossroads of trade and tradition, yet it remains a best-kept secret for an all encompassing adventure. It’s breathtaking landscapes, from snow-capped peaks to vast green valleys, great food & wine and the stories. They stretch back over 5,000 years, infusing the land with a sense of timeless wonder and intrigue, all intertwined to make a perfect combo for a new found journey.

For me, introducing adventurers to Georgia is about more than crafting unique trips; it’s about breaking boundaries, challenging preconceptions, and showing that some of the world’s most amazing experiences often lie beyond the usual paths. Experiencing Georgia’s raw authenticity, rich heritage, and warm-hearted people firsthand is what makes this journey so special.

Here’s to rewriting travel stories, uncovering hidden gems, and celebrating the world’s lesser-known treasures.

Georgia is waiting - come and experience the magic for yourself in 2025.

🎉 Congratulations 💚

A huge shoutout to this phenomenal team of 11 trekkers who took 70km in their stride through snow, mud, rain, river crossings, mountains, gorges, and deserts in the High Atlas Mountains to Sahara Desert Trek.

Together, they raised an incredible £70,000 for . That’s £1000 raised for every km trekked 💪

A mighty force of inspiration, especially Rena, a powerhouse at 80 years young, who all took on this epic challenge. With a special mention to Barry, in whose memory every member proudly wore a white dove badge. 🕊️

The resilience, dedication, and open-mindedness of Team McKeown are unparalleled, especially as they adapted to an unexpected snowfall at 1800m — the first in over 7 years in M’Goun Valley, and in October, no less! ❄️

Also a heartfelt thank you to the local Berbers of the High Atlas Mountains, who generously opened their doors during downpours, offering warm bread, olive oil, countless cups of Moroccan tea, and a nourishing bag of mixed nuts and dates to keep the team fuelled as they continued on their journey. The hospitality and kindness shown created unforgettable memories amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes without another tourist in sight.

A big thanks as well to the ever caring UK Leader and our fabulous local team - Guides: Omar & Muhammad, our two ever smiley Cooks and six intrepid Muleteers. Together they made this trip a very special and memorable one!

It’s been an honour to witness the camaraderie, the laughter, and the bonds that grew through every challenge and every shared moment. Team McKeown, we thank you and tip our hats to each of you — Des, Carolyn, Bill, Stuart, Jim, Allison, Paul, Padda, Ian, Alan, and, of course, Rena.

Maximum respect and cheers to your enduring spirit! 🏅✨💚

We’re thrilled to be guiding the brand new Mount M'goun: Berber Trade Routes & Kasbahs Trek over the coming days 🇲🇦🐪

Chief Ewe Jim (who provides the commentary above) will head out first with Adventurous Ewe friends and new adventurers 🥾👋 followed by Chief Ewe Sue a few days later with Team McKeown in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Team McKeown's ongoing support of Macmillan is nothing short of exceptional; an organisation dedicated to providing physical, emotional, and financial support to people living with cancer. We’re honoured to be part of this journey with such a determined and inspiring group, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.

Each group will be exploring the less-travelled paths of the High Atlas Mountains. The teams will trek through Morocco's diverse landscapes, shaped over centuries, and summit M'Goun (4068m), the third highest peak in North Africa.

The adventure continues with a trek into the Sahara Desert, where they'll spend a night beneath a blanket of stars on the edge of the world's largest desert. This trek will be demanding, with long days traversing challenging terrain and nights spent in remote shepherd huts and camps.

All the very best to both groups of adventurers who are in for an incredible 10 days 👏 💚

As COP16 convenes in Colombia this week to focus on biodiversity and sustainable practices, we thought we’d shine the spotlight on our carefully crafted ‘Explore Colombia & The Lost City Trek’.

The Itinerary 🥾

The ‘Explore Colombia & The Lost City Trek’ is over 11 days and meticulously designed to emphasise the protection of natural habitats and the preservation of indigenous cultures. Carefully set up alongside indigenous peoples still using their historic paths to reach an archaeological marvel over 1200 years old.

Why is it protected? 👀

The Lost City is more than 600 years older than Machu Picchu and unlike its Peruvian counterpart, there are no trains or buses allowing for easy travels to reach its ruins. The only way to witness its uncovered layers first-hand is on foot. This means there are over a million visitors to Machu Picchu every year compared to only 8000 hikers per year. It’s a true adventure of discovery in an ethical and sustainable manner.

How is it protected? ⛑️

It’s well regulated with only a set number of permits issued per day and that all treks must use local guides and crew which in turn is giving local people employment and a career path. It’s also educating us as tourists into the ways of life of the Kogi people who still live there today.

What next? 🇨🇴

This is a very special adventure and one that Chief Ewe’s Jim and Sue (pictured in the Lost City) are proud of creating for all the right reasons . See our website for more sustainable highlights of this journey:

🌟 Huge congratulations to our team on successfully completing the inaugural Dalai Lama Indian Himalayan Trek!

Our meticulously designed journey introduced a remarkable blend of culture, history, traditions, and diverse landscapes, offering an authentic slice of life in the Indian Himalayas. From the hustle & bustle of Delhi to the remote foothills of the Himalayas and into the homes of local people for homecooked meals.

Starting in Delhi with visiting the white marble marvel of the Taj Mahal, encountering local artisans who preserve their heritage by employing traditional methods to craft authentic handicrafts, observing the daily routines of locals washing clothes in communal outdoor laundries and drying them in the streets, and enjoying the deeply touching experience of sharing a meal with three generations of a family, savouring the incredible flavours of their home-cooked dishes. Before hitting the rails and joining the locals on an overnight sleeper train, and wow, what an experience to have.

Our travels led us to the market town of Dharamshala, the serene abode of the Dalai Lama, steeped in Buddhism, robed monks, bronze prayer wheels and Tibetan gongs.

We then laced up our hiking boots for a 5-day journey traversing steep trails through secluded mountain villages, primarily used by locals, making us some of the first Westerners to traverse these ancient trading paths. Our journey led us past traditionally farmed terraced fields and charming hamlets, where we observed time-honoured farming techniques and self-sustaining local ways of life. Along the way, warm smiles welcomed us, and the curiosity of village children about our presence added a heartfelt dimension to our trek. Interactions with local farmers, and meals made from the freshest local produce enriched our experience. Trekking to heights of 2500m, we even had the company of golden eagles soaring just above us and friendly mountain dogs follow from village to village.

This trek was more than a journey; it was a deep dive into the heart of India. With a mix of traditions, spiritual beliefs, fascinating history, architecture and diverse landscapes, India has set our memories ablaze and given us experiences to cherish for a lifetime. Namaste to the people of India including our amazing local guide and crew. And a huge respect to our first team on being part of this magnificent journey.

From Peaks to Paddles: Bluewater Takes on the Ultimate 6-Hour Challenge 🚴‍♂️🥾🛶

Tomorrow, the Bluewater team will be cycling, hiking, and kayaking their way through a one-day endurance test—because why not tackle all terrains in 6 hours? The goal? To raise funds for three causes close to their hearts:

Save the Children – Giving kids the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

Sand Dams Worldwide – Helping communities access clean water and build sustainable futures.

Woking Tigers – Supporting youth sports and local talent right here in Woking.

Whether it’s two wheels, two feet, or a paddle, the Bluewater team is proving that a bit of sweat can go a long way. 👏

Corporate teams, consider this your reminder: meaningful impact doesn’t require a boardroom—just a challenge, a great cause, and a little determination.

We wish you all the best of luck tomorrow, our leaders are ready to support you every peddle, step and paddle of the way 💪🏼

🌍🐾 From Paws to Claws: Celebrating World Animal Day! 🐾🌍

We love our furry furrends at home – special shoutout to Moshi, the mountain dog, and Maya, her loyal follower! 🐶🐕

While they bring joy to our everyday lives, the wild animals we encounter on our treks hold a different place in our hearts.

Jim’s love for dogs abroad is clear in the picture from our Kings Trail Arctic Snowshoe Expedition 🐕‍🦺, but when it comes to wildlife, it’s all about respecting and protecting them in their natural habitat.

Let’s celebrate the incredible creatures we share the planet with! 🌿🐫

How it all began for Adventurous Ewe...

Founder and Managing Director of Adventurous Ewe, James Young - www.adventurousewe.co.uk After working in the mental health industry for a number of years, Jim left the shores of the UK as an International Expedition Leader for the well renowned tour operator, Exodus. With spending 12 years guiding overland trips to all pockets of the world, fixing overload trucks on the salt flats of the Atacama Desert, dodging numerous elephant charges through African campsites and exploring remote areas across China and Nepal, Jim returned to his Welsh routes in Snowdonia. Now with an immense passion for travel, bucket loads of worldly experience and enthusiasm to show more people the incredible places & experiences the world has to offer, Jim gained all the necessary qualifications in mountain leading, cycle leading, kayak instructing and water safety and set up Adventurous Ewe in 2007. Starting small with hikes around Snowdonia, The Lake District and the Scottish Highlands, the company soon branched out to manage the classic treks of Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and the Great Wall of China. Now Jim’s proud to specialise in creating unique itineraries to much more remote corners of the globe such as Rwanda, Slovenia, Georgia, Patagonia and the Arctic Circle plus creating new events in the UK. Today Adventurous Ewe takes groups of intrepid travellers, corporate organisations and charity supporters across the globe whether it be trekking, mountain climbing, cycling, kayaking, gorge walking, snow-shoeing or helping with community projects. And not forgetting his own adventure playground in the UK, Jim has created some exciting events for small to large groups to meet the needs of clients. Adventurous Ewe maintains a strong responsible tourism policy and ensures all expeditions and events are managed in an ethical, safe and sustainable manner. When Jim’s not working on an expedition or an event, he can be found at the beach kite surfing or taking the ‘Moshi the mountain dog’ for a walk in the mountains.
