In 2007 Jim Young founded Adventurous Ewe following a jam packed 8 years of grassroots guiding across 4 continents for Exodus Travels. Discovering vast countries, cultures, environments, mountains, deserts, coast

s and jungles; and always up for taking the path less travelled. Furnished with a huge passion for adventure travel, Jim returned to his home in Snowdonia with a burning desire to create authentic, personable, fun and ethical travel experiences in his homeland. Adventurous Ewe has since grown to provides extraordinary adventure travel experiences across the planet in a safe, sustainable, meaningful and fun manner with real connections to people and places. But the only thing that hasn’t changed is Jim’s inherent belief in the core values below that continue to inspire the heart and soul of the company today.

Today as our group pedalled past a local school on our brand-new Rwanda Cycling Adventure, the schoolkids rushed out, waving, singing, and cheering us on with pure joy.Quite possibly the world’s most incredible cheer squad! 🌟 Jumpstart January….

What a way to kick off the year! January has been packed with adventures that set the tone for an epic 2025.

🌴 Costa Rica Coast to Coast Adventure saw two amazing small teams cycling, hiking, rafting and kayaking 250kms from the Pacific to the Caribbean.

🏔️ Mt Toubkal Winter Trek brought our intrepid team to the patchy snowy summit of North Africa’s highest peak after previously completing our Winter Iceland Hiking Expedition. A huge congrats on another successful trekking journey.

🏕️ Back on home turf, our UK Training Weekend was all about prepping for future expeditions. With inspiration and expertise from Everest summiteers and Tori James, our amazing group are well enroute to tackle their next big adventure.

The team aiming to transform the lives of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in East Africa through the provision of quality education, clean water, health promotion and other community-based programmes

🇬🇧 Expedition Training Weekend – 17 adventurers are gearing up for their big overseas treks this year, honing essential skills with Everest Summiteer & expedition expert , alongside our all-female Leadership team – Maisie and Trainee Mountain Leader Ffion. Plus, we’re thrilled to welcome , the first Welsh woman to summit Everest, to share her expertise and inspiration.

From the frozen landscapes of Iceland in winter 2022 to the snow-capped summit of North Africa’s highest peak, Mt Toubkal (4,167m) just days ago – two incredible winter adventures in the bag!

🌿 After an incredible day exploring the breathtaking Lamington National Park in Queensland, Australia, we’re feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to dive into another big season of adventures ahead.

How it all began for Adventurous Ewe...

Founder and Managing Director of Adventurous Ewe, James Young - www.adventurousewe.co.uk After working in the mental health industry for a number of years, Jim left the shores of the UK as an International Expedition Leader for the well renowned tour operator, Exodus. With spending 12 years guiding overland trips to all pockets of the world, fixing overload trucks on the salt flats of the Atacama Desert, dodging numerous elephant charges through African campsites and exploring remote areas across China and Nepal, Jim returned to his Welsh routes in Snowdonia. Now with an immense passion for travel, bucket loads of worldly experience and enthusiasm to show more people the incredible places & experiences the world has to offer, Jim gained all the necessary qualifications in mountain leading, cycle leading, kayak instructing and water safety and set up Adventurous Ewe in 2007. Starting small with hikes around Snowdonia, The Lake District and the Scottish Highlands, the company soon branched out to manage the classic treks of Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and the Great Wall of China. Now Jim’s proud to specialise in creating unique itineraries to much more remote corners of the globe such as Rwanda, Slovenia, Georgia, Patagonia and the Arctic Circle plus creating new events in the UK. Today Adventurous Ewe takes groups of intrepid travellers, corporate organisations and charity supporters across the globe whether it be trekking, mountain climbing, cycling, kayaking, gorge walking, snow-shoeing or helping with community projects. And not forgetting his own adventure playground in the UK, Jim has created some exciting events for small to large groups to meet the needs of clients. Adventurous Ewe maintains a strong responsible tourism policy and ensures all expeditions and events are managed in an ethical, safe and sustainable manner.
