Wow!
I'm a little late posting anything from Storm Eunice as I needed a bit of time to recover! Forecast as one of the most powerful storms in years I really didn't want to miss the chance to photograph it! The trouble was I was running a workshop in Slovenia last week. Luckily my flights was perfectly timed to avoid any disruption from this storm and Storm Dudley a few days before. After a 04.00 start to begin the final day of my workshop in Slovenia, my flight landed smoothly at Gatwick at 22.30. After researching the possible impact of the storm whilst waiting for the plane, it looked like Cornwall may see the largest waves. I drove back to Dorset to collect my 600mm lens and heaviest tripod, and then set off on the 4 hour drive (including a couple of 20min nap stops!) to Porthleven. I arrived in time for high tide at 6am. It was still dark, but the wind was gradually increasing and the waves were already quite impressive. This was the first shot with the waves breaking over the harbour and seafront, with the spray illuminated by various different light sources. This was a 1/2 second exposure at 6400 ISO on the Canon R5. I finally got to bed at 23.00 (43 hours after I got up!). I will post more images of the storm in the coming days :-)
