Cowes is now a serious foodie destination. Things moved up a gear when the Smoking Lobster Cowes opened on the site of the Tiffins sandwich shop and then expanded to open their Mediterranean brasserie in Foresters Hall . Then at Christmas former Royal Hotel Ventnor head chef Matt Egan opened the doors to House Cowes and brought Mixologist Max from The Hut to run the bar. Now Robert Thompson's favourite chef on the island Alex Kimber is bringing www.heroniow.co.uk to the prime Gastronomy site in Cowes High Street.
Alex worked at Wimbledon as a Sous chef then came to the Island 3 years ago and built The Cottage in Shanklin earning rave reviews and accolades.
During lockdown Alex and Laura re-evaluated their situation which lead to the opening of Heron in Ryde. Dishes at Heron are based on locally sourced and seasonal produce to create high quality fine dining meals.
Cowes locals and visitors are now spoilt for choice! We haven't event touched on the array of pubs, cafes, bars, fish and chip shops, pizzerias and Indian restaurants not to mention all the yacht clubs...
The Camber, being located in the old town, is the perfect base for a foodie weekend break or holiday.

Our beautiful 5 bed Georgian house in Cowes Old Town, which sleeps 10, is £300 cheaper than a 3 bed wooden cabin at Tom's Eco Lodge, Tapnell Farm for a week in August and £640 cheaper for a week in January!
We have a new Charnwood log burner, pool table, ping pong, air hockey and a better equipped kitchen than any holiday home on the island (we challenge anyone and yes we have oyster shuckers!) 🤣

Just welcomed our Haloween 🎃 guests who can now enjoy the brand new Charnwood Stoves Aire log burner. 🔥 It’s super eco and very effective; we love it 🥰

We have made a Welcome Guide for our house guests where we suggest good pubs, restaurants, shops, attractions and beaches etc. but we now need to add The Freshwater Coffee House over in the West Wight (the pretty side of the island). We do ask guests for feedback on where they have been and Robin Hill Country Park (in the middle of the island) always receives high praise.

We love our guests! The house is always left so tidy AND they write lovely reviews. We now have ten reviews with a score of 9.9/10 and we are the top rated holiday house in Cowes on Cottages.com . The latest is from Jane who stayed at the beginning of July:
"This is a lovely house in a great town, we had a fantastic week.
Amazing things - house is wonderful, homely and so well equipped, including welcome wine and basics. - Cowes is a lovely town ( our first time) and easy walk from the house to all shops, pubs, restaurants and the parade for great walks along the sea front...genuinely welcome dogs...games room was good to have on cloudier days.."

Our first rental guests of the year are enjoying wall to wall sunshine! Lots going on on the Island - The Garlic Farm reported their busiest weekend EVER. Plus there was a balloon festival at Robin Hill Country Park with some actually launching from walkways on the lake!

This feature article is about coming to the IOW on your bike and one of our house rentals last year was 6 friends who came with their bikes to cycle round the island (in a day!)
Also we do have a shed you can lock for bike storage.
