BOTHAN JURA RETREAT MASS GIVEAWAY!

Join us at our 10th Christmas Fair on Jura on November 23rd, and stay the night in one of our huts or cottage here at Bothan Jura Retreat for free!!!

We've booked the whole retreat out on Christmas Fair day so you've got x3 chance of winning! We've extended the check in and check out times also so you are able to relax and enjoy the accommodation, the wilds of Jura, the log burner, the wood fired hot tub and sauna for most of the weekend.

Come stay on Jura as our guests. We want to shout as loud as we can that Jura has food, we have drink, we have music, we have dancing ... and we will have all winter long. Keep an eye on the Jura Community Page for hall, pub and other local events!

Open all winter … Mrs Leonard's Cottage - sleeps 2. There are 2 double beds, the cottage is dog friendly, wood fired hot tub, wood burning stove, electric sauna, cold water outdoor shower, plunge barrel. We have pies in the freezer and a pizza oven … come coorie up on Jura this winter in one of our huts or cottage.

The Rusty Hut - sleeps 2. Double bed upstairs and a double sofabed downstairs (if the ladder’s too much for you!). Dog friendly, wood burning stove, hot tub £120 per night this winter. We have pies in the freezer … come coorie up on Jura this winter in one of our huts or cottage.

We're excited to let you know (we've finally finished building!!!) that we have two new self catering accommodation huts ready for rent on the Isle of Jura. Both huts are the same footprint and are designed as single, open plan living spaces; each with a well equipped kitchen, separate shower room and loo, and a log burning stove for heat.

A double bed can be made in the living space, or for those happy to climb a sturdy library ladder, there is a comfortable double mattress made up on the mezzanine above.

The Black Hut has a wood fired hot tub and one is on the way for The Rusty Hut, in the meantime we can move the tub between huts at the moment, so everyone booking should get to use the tub during their stay.

All accommodation is dog friendly, but dogs must be kept on leads around the area. The site is growing back so bear with us, 6 years of building has taken its toll, but we've planted 200 trees and plants and we hope it won't be long until the area recovers.

We'll be doing another one to celebrate the launch of the retreat in May, we'll have all our accommodation to give away ... 2 huts and the cottage ... we'd love it to go to a group of friends or a family so keep an eye on our page.

Valentine's Weekend Giveaway Bothan Jura with Jura Hotel

We have collaborated with The Jura Hotel to give away a fantastic romantic weekend on Jura. Accommodation in Mrs Leonard's Cottage with hot tub and sauna and a £30 voucher from the hotel for a meal.

The weekend is Friday 10th February. You can come for one or two nights. 2 people max.

Come on in, it’s a balmy 4 degrees!!
We have two large whisky barrels with seats in them (we want you to be comfortable when you’re sitting in freezing cold water!!) whilst at this time of year the water is cold enough, one of the barrels has a chiller that filters, cleans and chills the water all year round. All available (for free) to islanders and guests to use.

Middle East Jura (aka Knockrome) delivered last night! Best views ( ) on the island and the elements combined in our favour for a perfect Scottish west coast summer sunset … no battle with the midge!
sourdough flatbread success 🙏 and a win convincing a neighbour that veggie food is fun when you sprinkle saffron threads (🙏 ) and za’atar on everything!!

On my road trip round the north coast of Scotland last week I aptly listened to the audiobook of "Finding Hildasay" written and read by Chris Walks the UK

Having followed Chris and Jet since August 2018 when he was here on Jura, it was fascinating to fill in the blanks of his back story and the details of his onward, epic journey after he left Jura.

I know Chris and Jet touched a lot of peoples' hearts when he was here, and we shared a great music festival with him that year.

I've been so moved by his story I've bought some copies to share out with everyone, please find them at the shop, The Antlers. in the pub, in the doctors wherever I can leave one I will.

Please take one (they're free) read it and then pass it on to someone else or return it to where you got it.

It's such an inspirational story and when I got to the chapter he wrote on Jura; "I left my heart on Jura" it made me very proud of our island and our community!

I don't know what this man is made from but what he is doing, has done and continues to do is nothing short of awesome. If you suffer from mental health issues or just want a story to lift your spirits, reading this will help I'm certain.

If you haven't already done so please donate to his SSAFA Just Giving page or buy a copy of his book if you can't borrow one of these on Jura.

He's currently (4.5 years later) doing the coast of Cornwall, can you believe it, Alba was 4 in the photo playing with Jet, she turns 9 next week and he’s not on his own!!

We'll see you at the next music festival Chris Walks the UK and please bring the family 👍
