🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🌼 Exciting news from our hives - we're welcoming a new queen bee soon! After our first hive inspection at the start of April we knew we had to act fast. The colony had grown considerably and the hive was full. Their swarm sense was strong as we found multiple supersedure cells in the brood box and plenty of drone cells. We decided to perform a shook swarm and split the hive into two to make room for the bees and prevent a swarm.
The new virgin queen will emerge within a couple of days and the quest for a name for our new regal newcomer continues! Our original queen, Mel Bee is continuing to do well after the big move.

In 2022 we moved our management fleet to all electric! 🌿🔌 We have now successfully installed 4 new chargers, taking our total to 7, at our Head Office and dedicated parking spaces for EVs, as part of our commitment to a greener future. We have more electrifying news to come! 🌟

We’re extremely excited to be involved in the habitat enhancement project at our local apiary in Wilmslow.

Thanks to BeeEducated working with members of our team, we now have our own beekeeper and this project is our chance to give back to the BeeEducated group and the surrounding community by enhancing their apiary.

As it stands, their apiary is in a sorry state. A square area of grassland that is overrun by weeds and bramble. Using reclaimed and recycled materials that have been kindly donated by the local community, we’ll be creating bases for the hives with a solid working platform for each and a pathway around the perimeter of the apiary. We’ll then use a mixture of wildflower seed, grasses and carefully selected native shrubbery to provide the bees with a much more diverse selection of pollen to forage and improved shelter all year round.

Nestled in the Cheshire countryside and surrounded by farmland, UK Landscapes’ HQ is perfectly placed for a spot of beekeeping. This is Luke, our resident Apiarist, carrying out his weekly hive inspection and checking the health and well-being of over 30,000 bees in our very own wildflower garden.
