🩶🩶🩶It's silver again at our regional tourism awards in the Green category (ethical, responsible and sustainable tourism). For the first time, our area included Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire - and the Gold winner was from The Forest of Dean, so slightly gutted that we lost it to someone who wouldn't usually be in our area! A nice chance to get glammed up and hang out with the best tourism businesses in the region!

But it's still an amazing honor to be judged as one of the best green tourism businesses in the South West, for the 3rd year running! Thanks as always for your continued support, we hope it gives you a boost to know your choosing one of the most ethical, responsible and sustainable options in the South West for your holiday when you stay at Wytch Wood 💚💚💚

We're wearing wellies today to support British farmers in the face of the new tax changes targeted at farmers and family businesses. Wytch Wood wouldn't exist if it weren't for my family's small farm. We aren't rich land owners. The farm is our home and provides the livelihood for 3 generations of our family and 5 separate businesses. All our businesses are sympathetic to the land and low intensity. Nobody is rich but we're all working, employing people and contributing to the economy. There is value in the land but only if you sell it - very few small farmers are cash rich! I'm sad and scared for the future of farms, and it's the small farms like ours that will be hit hardest.

Please keep supporting British farmers and family businesses before they are lost forever

What a wonderful day yesterday with making these brilliant, dynamic willow sculptures. Jo provides all materials and a full day's tuition - lending you her considerable expertise to help you craft one of these magical creatures to take home. Wytch Wood provided the setting and a tasty homemade veggie lunch using lots from the garden.

We'll be looking to put some more dates in next year, so be sure to let us know if you're interested in joining and we'll work with you to make it happen! You don't need to stay at Wytch Wood to join one of our workshops or activities, visitors are very welcome too.

Well that's a wrap on Wednesday night pizza for 2024. We've still got 3 more Saturday pizza nights in the diary though, so there is still a chance to grab one of our hand stretched sourdough pizzas, cooked fresh to order in our on site wood fired oven this year.

Campers and local visitors welcome, just let us know by midday on the day so that we have enough dough prepared.

Come on a walk around to see what Storm Darragh has been up to at Wytch Wood (it's not too bad). If I do another talking bit I'll try and sound a bit more enthusiastic 🤣 We monitor and maintain all the trees in the campsite area but there's not much you can do against 90mph winds 💨 one of the reasons we don't stay open through the winter months. luckily not lost too many of our lovely big trees. We'll be working on getting everything tidied up or leave it for the wildlife if possible. In response to a brilliant and hilarious review of Centre Parks by @alexdodman we realised why we would never be millionaires at Wytch Wood, but that actually we were ok with that! We want to provide a family welcome to our lovely little patch of Somerset, that enables guests to access nature and the woods and a few little comforts thrown in. We know we aren't the absolute cheapest out there, but we think we do provide good value and a quality experience. ✅ We have one rate for camping and glamping across the whole season - no giant price hikes for school holidays ✅ Onsite food, drink and shop are locally sourced, high quality and reasonably priced ✅ Activities are either free or very good value ✅ Everything we do fits with our ethos of being responsible, ethical and sustainable ✅ Profits go to the people who do the work not a faceless corporation and much is reinvested into the site to keep improving it It's so important where you choose to spend your hard earned cash, so we appreciate every penny that our guests choose to spend with us. **Cafe recommendation!** We are lucky enough to have one of these UKs best cycle cafes @thefeedstation in the nearby village of Merriott. At around 6 miles from Wytch Wood, it's a lovely bike ride away, with a few hills thrown in so you really appreciate your cake! Of course you can drive there too 😜 Set in a lovingly restored, Graded II listed former Sunday school building, they are open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and some evenings. Opening times can vary depending on time of year, so checking ahead or booking is advised.
