Before, during and after! Once the castles ash riddling room and now a fun spooky area to sit and drink or maybe use as a fabulous Photo Booth for wedding guests. It’s been a long road with room, clearing out the rubble, replacing the roof, repointing all the stonework and making the concrete bench. We had no idea what to use this room for when we started clearing it out but we both loved the ferns and Heather growing in the walls. 😂 This room is underground and always dark and damp. The starting point was to replace the plants with some good imitations and it just grew from there. I’m delighted to be getting my paint brushes out in here. Once an open air wreck of a room. Broken windows and lots of rubble. This room used to be the hanging room for animals shot on the estate. With a spiked pole in the centre of the turret spanning floor to ceiling and fly screen windows it was probably pretty grim in its day. Now it’s getting a new lease of life as a small champagne bar! Our guests will be able to move around the castle courtyard choosing which room to sit and relax in. The dungeon, the whisky snug or the champagne turret 😍 I’m planning a bright and glitzy space that Marilyn Monroe would have loved to be photographed sipping champagne in. 🥂

This cornice is so intricate we decided to call in Steve from @millercreativedesign to spray paint it. The prep was time consuming but then Wowzers! Soo much easier. I think I need one of these machines 😂 This week will be spent doing all the fiddly cracks and finishing ready for the big paint job next week.
