Situated in a quiet conservation area overlooking the village mill pond this delightful Arkwright stone cottage dating back to 1776 was originally built for the weavers who worked at the world’s first water powered cotton mill
by the side of the River Derwent. Full of charm and character, including beamed ceilings it is well equipped and tastefully furnished to offer welcoming and very comfortable accommodation from which to explore this unspoilt corner of England. Cromford is set in a valley, now part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and is surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs with footpaths and trails in every direction. It is a haven for walkers, cyclists and for nature lovers excellent bird watching can be found in the surrounding areas. An excellent base for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park with a range of attractions including the Tram Museum at Crich, the Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath to the splendour of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, or the water sports at nearby Carsington Water. Cromford has a good choice of shops, pubs and restaurants including vegetarian, Matlock has further amenities with the pretty town of Bakewell, historic Ashbourne and the Spa town of Buxton just a short drive away. Ground floor: sitting room with gas coal effect stove. Well equipped kitchen. Steeps stairs to: First floor: 1 bedroom – 1 with 2 single beds and views across to Black Rocks. Bathroom with shower over bath, WC, basin. Second floor: 1 spacious double bedroom with rooftop views across the village and open countryside. Set away from the cottage in an elevated position is a south facing unfenced garden and patio with a steep drop - children must be supervised at all times – owners do not accept any liability.
