Just round the bay from us is Saunton Sands.
One of our team managed to capture the beautiful sunsets we are having here at the moment.
Just stunning!
We want you to have fun but please think about where you set off fireworks, and please never on or near a beach. This is because...
* a mis-aimed firework could cause a devastating wildfire destroying habitat and/or property
* countryside environments are full of wild animals (and farm animals) which can, and do, die from the stress of firework noise.
* The chemicals, and heavy metals in fireworks (as well as the spent casings) end up in the environment. In this case the sea. They have known health implications for humans and for wildlife.
There are many organised events around bonfire night, so to minimise your harm to the environment here at Ruda we recommend going to one of those instead!
Good morning!
Good news.......the weather is set to be sunny for the coming days which gives you the great chance to explore this beautiful part of North Devon. ☀️
1st stop has to be Croyde Beach, explore the sand dunes, rock pools and why not pop to our Ranger Headquarters and meet your Ranger team who can share their wealth of knowledge and try some our their Outdoor and Explore activities 🐛🌳🦇
Don't forget to grab an icecream from Scoops! 🍦
Then up Baggy point to take in the breath taking views of Croyde. With so much to explore and see there is never a dull moment.
We would love you to share your photos of exploring this beautiful area.
Yesterday was National Beach Day!
Our beautiful beach here in Croyde has been awarded The Blue Flag two years running and is cared for by our amazing Ranger Team here at Ruda.
We would love to see your beach snaps!
Ever think it's a lovely idea to have a campfire on a beach or in sand dunes? Let our Rangers explain to you why that is in fact a really bad idea.
🔥Open fires on sand are almost impossible to put out. When you put sand on top you may be putting out the flames but you're essentially creating an underground kiln just ready to be disturbed by little bare feet.
🔥 Burning driftwood and marram grass is destroying our beach ecosystems. These things are crucial to many animals. And when they are burnt that habitat is immediately destroyed.
🔥 A rogue ember from your fire could cause a wildfire to take hold. And all of a sudden your campfire has become a nightmare that you'll have to live with forever.
Holly, our Head Ranger found this, this morning, piled high with rubbish including cans, glass bottles (many melted flat by the heat) and even a camping chair. The wood burst straight back into flames and took her an hour of picking out rubbish and dumping wet sand on top to get under control.
Beautiful weather here in Croyde! Who's joining us this weekend?
Doesn't matter how many time you may have come round the "Croyde Corner" the view is just something else!
Sun is shining and the beach is looking amazing!
Who is joining us this weekend? 😎
What an amazing sky here at Ruda tonight!
Just magical.
