🎄 Continuing our Christmas tradition, this year's beach Christmas tree made by our rangers has been titled the ‘Past-Tents' tree.

Made from discarded tents it shines a spotlight on the environmental impact of 'disposable' tents. Every year, over 150 tents are left in our recycling boxes on the beach and camping fields, many are upcycled, however, as tents cannot be recycled a significant amount of material remains. So, some of this year’s leftover tent material has now been transformed into this Christmas tree, as well as baubles, wreath, and presents displayed on Croyde beach.

We hope by raising awareness of the issue we can encourage people to choose high-quality, reusable tents, or to rent instead of buying. That way by next Christmas we can make ‘Past-Tents’ become past tense.” 🎄

We want you to have fun but please think about where you set off fireworks, and please never on or near a beach. This is because...
* a mis-aimed firework could cause a devastating wildfire destroying habitat and/or property
* countryside environments are full of wild animals (and farm animals) which can, and do, die from the stress of firework noise.
* The chemicals, and heavy metals in fireworks (as well as the spent casings) end up in the environment. In this case the sea. They have known health implications for humans and for wildlife.

There are many organised events around bonfire night, so to minimise your harm to the environment here at Ruda we recommend going to one of those instead!

Please be aware there is NO LIFEGUARD SERVICE ON CROYDE BEACH on weekdays this week (Mon 21st Oct - Fri 25th). Lifeguards will be back on daily patrols from this Saturday 26th - Sunday 3rd November between 10am - 6pm.

Please note there are strong rips and currents at Croyde. To check tide times, daily beach forecasts and see beach safety tips from the RNLI please visit the Croyde Beach met office website at:
