Our lovely mum Tabatha has recently had 10 little piglets here at Wildside!
We think they are cuties, do you?
If you are visiting us soon be sure to meet them 😁

Be still.
Take a moment to listen to the bird song as we wander through the woods this morning.
This is one of the ‘Wildside Wonders’ the Bluebells in our ancient forest.
If you’ve never been to Wildside in late April/ early May enjoy this Spring experience!

This year we’ve extended our river walk.
The Madford river runs along the Western side of Wildside. On hot summers days the river walk and river dipping is a firm favourite.
We’re so thankful for the crew that helped us clear the River in early March.

We’ve been making the most of the warmer (and drier) weather over the last few days! Hope you have too?
Our Yurt is now up, we’re thankful for our friends who popped out to help us!

Our Cinnamon has given birth to two heathland young lambs overnight. What a wet and cold night to give birth! She is the first of our Wildside flock to give birth. 👏👏

Tony is a tree specialist - every few years he visits us to check over our woodland.
You can see from these photos where a tree heals after loosing a branch, they also grow faster in certain areas to increase stability. The lovely Birch tree is over 250 years old and formed a part of the old boundary to our woods. Tony thinks the woods here were harvested and managed, perhaps they were used to build houses in the Valley? Perhaps the woodland was here since Medieval times, maybe even earlier, perhaps planted by the monks at the local Dunkeswell Abbey?
We may never know!

What a wet day.. to bring some joy to your day meet our two visiting Exmoor ponies!
They are called Jubilee and Oak, every year during the winter when grass is hard to find on the moor they come and graze the Springline mire.

Today was the day to move our sheep onto new grazing.
It’s that time of year when they’ve grazed all our fields in the winter and neighbours let us graze other fields.

Happy New Year!
We’re thankful for the past season & looking forward to 2024!
Here’s Tiggy the hedgehog current living with us at Wildside.
We found him/her in late October, out in the rain when she should have been preparing to hibernate. She only weighed 250g, which is too small to survive the winter. She’s put on weight in our care, feeding on cat food, and she now weighs over 400g. 😀
What a beautiful morning or our miniature Shetland ponies.
If you’ve not met them before they are called Perry, Havana & Rydal!
