Baby Sensory is an award winning developmental programme for babies and their parents that caters for babies from birth to 13months old. It provides an exciting and enjoyable environment in which parents share in developmental play with their baby and develop invaluable parenting skills. It introduces parents to a wide range of activities, which enables them to interact in a variety of ways with t

heir babies. These sessions have been designed to support early development of babies through exposure to a range of stimulating sensory experiences. They are fun for parents and their babies and every session is different. The overall programme provides a rich environment full of interesting sights, sounds, smells, colours, materials and langauge. Sessions include: Bonding Techniques, Baby Whispering, Baby Massage, Sleep Techniques, Baby Exercise, Signing, Action Songs and Rhymes, Music and Dance, Visual Developmental Activities, Developmental Games and Music.

Is your baby getting enough iron? 💪

Iron is a key nutrient for babies when they start weaning. Before this they get most of their iron from stores from what mum passes to them during pregnancy and birth (how amazing!)

At around 6 months babies need to start getting iron-rich foods into their diet, as the stores they had will start to deplete and iron deficiency can increase the risk of infection and behavioural problems.

So here are some iron rich foods to you could try and include in your baby's diet:

-red meat
-lentils
-beans
-nuts*
-seeds
-fortified breakfast cereals
-tofu
-kale & spinach

Vitamin C also aids absorption so if you can offer foods rich in this alongside iron-rich foods then even better!

*Whole nuts and peanuts:
Whole nuts and peanuts should not be given to children under 5 years old, as they can choke on them. You can give your baby nuts and peanuts from around 6 months old, as long as they're crushed, ground or a smooth nut or peanut butter.
If there's a history of food allergies or other allergies in your family, talk to your GP or health visitor before introducing nuts and peanuts.

💚You don’t need to put extra time aside for sensory play with your baby.

💛Routine activities such as feeding, nappy changing, dressing, bathing, cuddling, carrying and preparing for sleep all provide opportunities for sensory development.

💚Likewise, any kind of outing including trips to the supermarket, walks in the park, visiting friends and activities such as swimming all stimulate your baby's senses.

A busy couple of weeks for Halloween……. 🎃 From lots of Baby Pumpkin Specials, Charlotte’s school Halloween disco, dress up day for school and out with her wee friends tonight round our street. Hi Everyone! Been a busy weekend, my baby turned 7! Goes in a flash. Lots of fun with family and friends and a wee visit to Rouken Glen Pottery (who are visiting us in November, will let you know more soon 😘) and a sleepover and lots of cake and amazing balloons (thanks Auntie Tracey 🥰). We are doing Sleep Tight this week, lots of lovely lullaby music, chimes, chilled out sensory experience this week. Feel free to wear pjs to fit in with the theme 💤🌗⭐️
