Good morning all, as a heads up the stream/ river at the back of the hotel as burst its banks causing severe flooding in the area, the cobble bridge leading up to the hotel is currently inaccessible from that point with the bridge standing with 3ft of water over the road. This will also mean bike night this evening will be cancelled as we DO NOT recommend bikers attempt to wade through the water with already 3 larger vehicles being stuck. Thank you.

Trees.. some of the beautiful nature around us
Twins.. gorgeous herdwick lambs. Born black, the fleece gradually fades and is grey after their first shearing

Trains.. the wonderful Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Co.Ltd
Tarns.. Burnmoor Tarn, Low Tarn, Blea Tarn, Innominate Tarn
Tongues out.. cheeky highland cow

Sunsets… we get some cracking sunsets here in the western lakes
Sunrises…beautiful and calm. Easier on the winter!!!
Screes…the majestic slopes that fall steeply into Wastwater

St Bees.. just up the coast, lovely beach and headland walks

There is also a train that links up with Ravenglass train station, where there's lots of parking and you can travel along the scenic Cumbria Coast railway line.

Check train times before you travel on National Rail.

Come on over to the quieter side!

By that we mean the stunning western Lake District. Much quieter than the central Lakes, the west offers:

Our local, Bridge Inn, in 1986 and 2024. Not a huge change outside, but inside is very different. A 5 minute walk from us, great food, friendly staff and dogs welcome. What’s not to like?
