Garden Cottage is a great value, dog friendly holiday cottage nestled by the A92, at the Wester entrance to the pretty village of Kilmany, East Fife. Kilmany is just a 20-minute drive from the ancient University town of St Andrews, 30 minutes from the coastal towns of the East Neuk and 10 minutes from Cupar and Dundee. As a result, it is within easy reach of a broad range of shops and amenities, i
ncluding pubs, restaurants, cafes, cinemas and theatres; a regional bus service and a train station with local and national links. Garden Cottage has an en-suite bedroom with a double bed; click-clack chair beds in the sitting room, along with a three-seater sofa, dining table and chairs. There’s a large flatscreen TV with FreeSat, a DVD/CD player, and Wi-Fi. The central heating is oil-fired and there’s an electric stove style heater/cooler in the sitting room. Dogs are welcome, free of charge, with up to two small/medium or one large staying at a time (can be negotiated). The garden is enclosed by a standard stock fence (there’s farm land immediately in front of the cottage). We have added hex wire to the standard wire, and have boarded along the bottom of the stock fence to reinforce its security. However, while we’ve done our utmost to ensure that the garden is secure, we ask that guests please keep your eyes on your dog(s) when in the garden as we can’t guarantee that it’s 100% escape proof. We also ask guests to clean up after their pets as necessary and we’ve provided bags for that purpose. Pricing structure from January 2024:
We have a straightforward pricing structure at an affordable, year-round price. Based on two guests, there’s a minimum charge of £270 (1-3 nights), then £90/night for 2 guests or £99/night for 3 guests The Cottage can be rented for a maximum of 28 nights and a discount is available for longer stays. Change over day for weekly stays depends on bookings already taken. These charges will be the same throughout the year so we will retain our policy of no price hikes over Christmas/NewYear, Easter, or any other holiday times. We’re not normally bothered by fireworks in Kilmany, so Garden Cottage could be a refuge if your dog(s) are upset by them. Payments:
Deposit: A £100 non-refundable deposit is normally required to confirm a booking, with the balance due 2 weeks before arrival. If the booking is made two weeks or less before you’re due to stay, full payment must be made. Balance:

At that point, you will also need to pay a household/ damage deposit of £100, which is insurance to cover any unforeseen accidents. The household/insurance deposit will be refunded in full within 7 days of your departure providing no damage is found. LOCATION

Garden Cottage Covid cancellation policy:
Because of the ongoing situation with Covid, we have decided to make a statement regarding how we intend to handle cancellations and rescheduling in the event of another Lockdown or as a result of a guest contracting Covid and therefore preventing their holiday. Any money pre-paid - including the deposit - would be fully refunded if we go into lockdown thereby preventing guest holidays. If guests are prevented from taking their holiday due to actually having Covid, we would ask for a copy of their PCR verification in order to make a full refund. If guests are disinclined to provide such verification, the refund could be made but the deposit would be retained. I trust that makes sense and is seen as fair. If guests would prefer to reschedule their holiday, that is not a problem, subject to periods of availability; for example, depending on the time of year, it might not be possible to reschedule close to original booking dates. If alternative dates are not acceptable to the guest, then a refund would be made subject to the details above. We do hope that past, present, forthcoming and future/potential guests can appreciate why we’ve decided to articulate this policy - as a protection for themselves as well as for us.
