Lovely opportunity of a rare Saturday day off last week (3rd August) to visit the annual Dumfries show - a great day out, food, drink, friends, animals and lots to look!

Really looking forward to attending some of the events at the Wigtown Book Festival again this year ... and of course a MUST to pay a visit to the glorious ReadingLasses for some delicious cake! Just about an hours leisurely drive from Whitecroft Farm's Myrtle and Rose Cottages - some availability for the week of Book Festival in Rose Cottage DM for details!

How exciting, not long now! The cake fairy will need to start her spreadsheet for getting the cakes baked in time!

Taking the opportunity of the low tide at the right time of day to make the most of a great beach ride from Southerness Lighthouse to Carsethorn.

This has to be one of the most relaxing rides in the area. Taking in magnificent views and the stunning changing beach between Southerness and Carsethorn.

In August 2022 Alex McIntyre drew fellow artists to this corner of South West Scotland for a very special artist retreat. Among them was Ken Ager who recently sent us a link to his latest work.

'The retreat gave me a great deal of visual 'inspiration', particularly due to the experiences of colour and light and the horizontals around Dalbeattie and the coastal areas we visited. It took some time to process these and make new pieces - indeed, there are still many, as yet, unexplored possibilities to draw upon!

I was fortunate to be offered gallery space for a solo exhibition at Courtyard Arts in Hertford and showed the large-scale textiles arising from the Dalbeattie experience for the first time. I hope you won't mind me sharing images of the show, which was well received:'
