Lovely events on in Wigtown this Winter!

Highly recommend! Friends and I went for a wonderful walk from Rockcliffe to Kippford last week, and stopped at Anchor Inn, Kippford for gorgeous tea and scones just out of the oven! They were delicious! And dog treats and cuddles for May too!

It may have been grey across the UK for the last couple of weeks but it does allow to indulge in the flat light which has its own quality along the Solway Firth. These pics are from a local ride taking in the Graveyard Road, Mersehead Beach and Wildcat Wood.

The one and only ReadingLasses ... enjoy a wee break and a very well deserved rest! We'll be along with friends and guests from Myrtle and Rose Cottages when your back ... really looking forward to it!

ReadingLasses is closed until Monday 11th November and our winter hours will then be 10.30-3.30. Really sorry for any inconvenience but we're all a little tired after a very busy October and in need of a short break. See you soon.

Winter opening hours for the wonderful Abbey Cottage. We're spoilt for choice with gorgeous eateries in the area ... worth fitting in a visit here for guests at Whitecroft Farm's Myrtle and Rose Cottages

🍂It's that time of year again! The days are getting shorter and darker, so we're changing our opening hours after this weekend.
🕰From next week, we'll be open 5 days a week from 11 until 4. Closed on Monday and Tuesday.
🥣Pop in and see us for a bowl of homemade soup or a hot drink 🫖

We spent a fabulous afternoon indulging in the street food, drink and entertainment at The Winter Droving in Penrith. And the evening parade was spectacular.

An unexpected Saturday afternoon off saw us head across the Solway to the Penrith Winter Droving Festival - a great event to mark the start of the Winter season. Lovely food and drink, stalls with goodies, fayre and folk performing songs and acts ... a fav was the great Commoners Choir, (joining in with some of the songs, including May!), and finishing off with the masked procession in the evening, drums and torches and illuminated creatures to recreate the droving! Congratulations to the organisers, a great event, and only about an hour and half drive away from Whitecroft Farm ... recommended for next year!

The wonderful Sweetheart Abbey, and the amazing story of the Lady Devorgilla and her beloved husband. Looking forward to the revelations on any historic renovations in 2025.
