Cairnpapple - One of the most important prehistoric sites on mainland Scotland. People returned here for generations to perform ceremonies, reshape the land and to bury their dead.
It sits on top of a hill 312m (1024ft) above sea level and its location in West Lothian is arguably one of the best vantage points in central Scotland. On a clear day its possible to see "Goat Fell", the Isle of Arran's highest peak, situated off the west coast of Scotland and also see the North Sea to the east.
It's believed that the name means "Cairn of the Eye". (I wonder why? 🤔👁️)
