Relax in the ambience of a period railway carriage and gaze out on pleasant countryside, stunning coastlines or dramatic mountain vistas

to the accompaniment of white wisps of steam as Tornado takes you on a journey to explore one of Britain’s many tourist destinations. Those booking First Class seating can look forward to more spacious, luxurious seating in a more comfortable and roomy seat with curtains by the windows. For the full experience, why not consider the Premier Dining experience, with silver service and freshly cooked food delivered to the table by smartly attired waiting staff. Enjoy a full English breakfast on the outward journey and a relaxed four course dinner on the way home as the sun sets, the station lights twinkle and Tornado’s reassuring rhythmical exhaust sets the seal on a memorable day out. Alternatively, TouristClass seating is also available for those simply wishing to enjoy the scenery and have an enjoyable day out. A buffet car is available in Tourist Class offering a variety of hot, cold and alcoolic beverages as well as a selection of tasty snacks. The Mk1 railway coach is a classic design from the immediate post-war era and was the predominant type during the lifetime of the original Peppercorn class A1 Pacifics. So, it is entirely appropriate that the surviving vehicles – themselves now of heritage status form the basis of the trains that Tornado hauls. In those days, there was
a table at every seat and all seats lined up with the windows – none of today’s cramped, airline style seating with only limited window views that blight many of today’s trains - and so they are perfect for enjoying a day trip around the UK.

Following Tornado in steam this weekend, there has been a lot of interest in ‘The Ribblehead Rambler’ tour across the S&C on 21st September. Online bookings have now closed for this train, but tickets are available via the Booking Office on 01325 488215.
