The Friendly Photography Club

The Friendly Photography Club The Friendly Photography Club is a great place to meet and chat to like-minded photography enthusiasts. We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays of the month.
(11)

The Friendly Photography Club (FPC) was founded in 2012 by Steve Smith who wanted to share his knowledge of photography with others. The Club initially met in Crayford, moving to Erith, then Northfleet, but since January 2016 have been meeting at Stone Lodge Bowls Club. Sadly for us, Steve moved away from the area in 2015 and the club has since been organised by Martin Dove, who is now formally re

cognised as our Chairman. We are essentially a social club but offer activities such as workshops, talks and outings (all photography related). Bring your camera along (whatever kind it is) and socialise in a pleasant environment. Meetings are informal, easy-going and there are no joining fees*. Activities include periodical themed competitions, club visits to sites of interest and occasional workshops and talks by local photographers (amateur, semi-pro and pro). The 1st is invariably a photoshoot (models during the winter months, and outdoor during warmer months). The 3rd is for scheduled competitions and technical talks, and the occasional 5th is for an organised member led outing. Since 2016 the club has been based at the Stone Lodge Bowling Club which offers a large meeting and shooting space as well as bar facilities. A large car park is available on site (behind the clubhouse to the right). Don’t park in the Judo Club as the car park shuts early! We stress our egalitarian and friendly atmosphere. Photographers are most welcome irrespective of their choice of camera or level of experience. Our competitions are purely internal and judged by club members themselves. Whether you shoot with your phone or an expensive DSLR, if you choose to share your photos with us you will be appreciated. Many starting photography as a hobby, or returning to it, find the extensive use of expensive and complex post production software to be a daunting challenge. We have many members who prefer to leave the picture as it came out of the camera. Other members are keen Photoshop users. We do not take sides - your art is your art! We look forward to seeing you on either the 1st or the 3rd Wednesday of each month. If your first visit is the first Wednesday, remember to bring your camera and join in the shoot.

*model fees are applicable (generally a maximum of £10 per attendee), and club subscriptions are currently kept at £12 per year to ensure that all who wish to can participate. The club is essentially a social club but includes activities such as workshops, talks and club visits. Bring your camera (whatever kind it is) and socalise in a pleasant environment. Meetings are informal, easy-going and there are no joining fees.

Anymore Christmassy ideas out there?

A very festive image by member Mark short in response to our Christmas Photo Ideas blog🎄

Mark writes, “I used the canon app on my phone to act as a remote in one hand then a string of fairy lights in the other. I started swinging the lights around my head slowly and then triggered the remote for 30 sec. The star was cut and pasted from another photo.”
