Devon's Blackpool Sands beach has been declared the cleanest beach in Europe, and four other British beaches have made the top 15.

This accolade comes thanks to TripAdvisor reviews and rankings from World50beaches, used by Fastest Payout Casinos to compile a list of the continent's 15 cleanest stretches of seaside.

The study found that Blackpool Sands with its crystal-clear waters and serene atmosphere, is beloved by visitors for its cleanliness, with one in four TripAdvisor reviews mentioning this.

One wrote: "A gorgeous clean beach to relax on. The staff running it were really lovely and welcoming both in the car park and the cafe. Nice clean toilets that had classical music piped in (first time for me!). The beach and the cafe are a short walk from the carpark which is great if you have mobility issues."

Blackpool Sands is 4 miles from Dartmouth Town centre - 12 minutes drive. And now with a fabulous new cafe / lounge / restaurant.

Our last review

The Dartmouth house is an absolute, relaxing, delight.

Lovely accommodation, very clean, brilliantly equipped, and with quality personal touches to make it feel like a genuine home from home stay. Three bedrooms over three floors (Two doubles and a twin room). One large bathroom (incl. large shower and roll top bath) and a further shower room with WC and sink.

Stunning views over the valley/ town and River Dart. A sunny aspect garden with loungers, dining table, chairs, and a blanket box for those chillier days!

A short walk from the hillside into gorgeous Dartmouth town/ river/ marina. There’s even a fantastic small bus service which takes you there from the doorstep and back in minutes, should you prefer to rest your buttocks, legs, and weary feet after exploring!

Devon is always a joy. Dartmouth always a favourite, and even more so with this as accommodation base camp.

So, if you ever want to experience Dartmouth and Devon delights, then I genuinely recommend getting in contact with lovely Nicky!

And just like that, March is nearly here! February thankfully flew past and now we will start to see the awakening of spring and hopefully revitalising energy for all! In March Winter finally holds back and Spring pulls forward with lengthening days & evenings, it’s a time for coming out of hibernation, the anticipation of vibrant times ahead, and definitely time to plan some fun evenings out with family & friends!

We've got so much planned over the coming weeks at The Sail Loft Dartmouth, and we kick off March on Friday 1st with LIVE MUSIC with Rob Hunt and Pizza Night at The Sail Loft. So come on down for a great evening, and remember you can pre-book tables up in our 1st Floor LOUNGE for Pizzas & Fries.

We are CLOSED on Saturday 2nd March for a Private Event, but the good news is we will be opening on Thursdays again in March, starting 7th March, with our inaugural BINGO NIGHT!! We can't wait, it's going to be a lot of fun with some truly amazing prizes!

There will be more LIVE MUSIC with Giles Nuttall and Pizzas on Friday 8th March, and on Saturday 9th our doors open at 2pm for Six Nations 2024 - Italy vs Scotland followed by England vs Ireland being shown Live on our Big Screen. It is also our GUEST CHEF NIGHT - PIE & MASH NIGHT with Ben Handley. Coincidentally it is National Pie Week and you have a choice of Chuck Steak, Onion & Devon Dumpling Ale Pie or Roast Pumpkin, Spinach and Pine Nut Pie, both served with Mash, Minted Peas & Onion Gravy for only £15 - an absolute Bargain!!

Thursday 14th March sees the return of our popular Thursday Night Steak Night with The Cellar Door. Booking in advance is essential. Please go to our website to book. Friday 15th is LIVE MUSIC with Jack Benjamin & Pizzas, and Saturday 16th is the Six Nations Finale with all 3 matches being shown, Wales vs Italy, Ireland vs Scotland & France vs England. Doors open at 2pm.

Friday 22nd it's Pizza Night & Live Music Night with the incredibly talented Giles Nuttall. (Saturday 23rd we are CLOSED for a Private Event).

Finally Friday 29th March we have Open Mic Night with Giles Nuttall and Saturday 30th March is our Guest Chef Easter Special with Jake Bridgwood. Full details are on our website and listed in our Events.
