The canal is frozen solid so no boat movements. When the ice gets really thick, 2 inches or more, you may be able to break your way through but it makes navigating a turn almost impossible.

Stratford-upon-Avon is a VERY energetic 1 week cruise or a more relaxed 2 week cruise from the Napton HQ. 52 hours and 164 locks.
As well as the Bill Shakespeare attractions, Stratford has some very nice Avon walks and of course it's famous Butterfly Farm.

No camera can capture the haunting sight and sound of a group of geese flying in the Autumn as the light fades. These come over every night having spent the day at Napton reservoir but tonight managed to have a camera handy.
