The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for European Union countries to clarify the requirements for passport validity.

It follows confusion among travellers and reports of passengers being wrongly turned away by airlines.

Under the heading ‘Passport validity’, the update says: If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, you must follow the Schengen area passport requirements.

Your passport must be:

• issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
• valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

You must check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.

🎙 Great news for travellers!

As of 4am on Friday 18 March all remaining Covid travel restrictions for UK arrivals, including the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) will be stood down.

This means travel gets easier and in time for the Easter holidays and the summer just around the corner.

Great news for travel! ✈️

Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe have been removed from the red list at 4am this morning.

Passengers arriving from those nations will no longer have to isolate in a government-approved quarantine hotel for two weeks.

Remaining testing requirements will remain in place and are due to be reviewed in January.

More positive news in 🇺🇸

The US will lift Covid-19 travel restrictions to allow fully vaccinated passengers to travel from the UK and EU to travel into the country from November (date to be confirmed).

Just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping!

BREAKING NEWS 🎙

The traffic light system is to be simplified from the 4/10/21 to a 'Red' list that we are familiar with and 'the rest of the world' option where we can travel🚦

Travel testing is starting to reduce for fully vaccinated travellers with pre departure testing before returning to the UK no longer required from the 4/10/21 and costly PCR tests to be completed on Day 2 to be changed to the less expensive lateral flow tests (expected by the end of October 2021 but date to be confirmed).

The following countries will be REMOVED from the Red list from 0400 on the 22/9/21:

Turkey, Maldives, Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh and Kenya.

Travel is finally opening for double vaccinated travellers!

Some fantastic news for travellers has just been announced by the UK Government – people who have had both vaccinations will no longer be required to self-isolate when returning from amber list countries.

This easing of restrictions will come into effect on the 19th of July, when all remaining Covid restrictions will be dropped.

What does this mean for you?

For those of you who have had both of your vaccinations, the options you have for summer holidays has just opened up hugely, with over 30 countries recognising the double vaccination rule. For those who haven’t yet had both vaccines, you now have the assurance of knowing you can plan and book your next holiday with confidence.

Of course, it’s important to remember that it’s not only the UK Government’s rules that need to be considered, but also the individual rules of the countries that we wish to travel to, and it’s vital we understand this before booking any holiday.
