A bit of advice that I Whatsapp'd a customer today who was wanting to book me to come out to a smelly washing machine.
There isn't really much you can do from a repair point of view other than make sure the filter is clear.
It's a very common issue that happens to just about everybody from time to time, but it can be reversed and avoided.

If you follow this advice, it should hopefully help sort out the problem.
To be honest there isn't really anything you can do to service a washing machine these days.
The best thing you could do with it would be to put in 1/4 of a bottle of Domestos bleach. I wouldn't use any other brand either as the Domestos works the best out of them all.
Sq**rt the bleach into the fold of the door seal and around the drum.
Put the machine onto a rinse cycle and allow it to fill up with water.
Once the machine has filled up with water, allow the drum to turn a few times then switch off the machine and leave it overnight so it's sat full of water with bleach.
The following day, put the machine onto a pump out / drain down or spin to get rid of the water. Once it's emptied switch off again and put it back onto a rinse.
Allow it to fill up with water and do it's rinse cycle.
Repeat the rinse cycle again to ensure all the bleach is out of the machine.
Lastly, fill the machine up with a decent sized load of WHITE cottons i.e. towels, bed sheets etc. Don't put any coloureds in it just incase there are still traces of the bleach.
Run the machine on it's hottest longest cycle. Usually they have a 90 degree cycle. If it has, choose this one.
If you use laundry liquid, switch to a decent brand of powder.
Ariel or fairy non bio is a good choice to use and try to stick to the same brand as some detergents can react with each other and cause nasty smells.
If you use the liquid tabs that dissolve into the washing then deffo go away from them. They are the worst ones out of them all for making machines smell bad.
Avoid using frequent quick washes and try to get the machine through a boil wash at least once a month.
When you put bleach into a machine, it is quickly drained back out of it as the machine runs it's cycle.
The bleach needs to be in the machine over night for it to do it's job properly.
Hope that helps π
