The 'Don Valley Cruise'. Doncaster, 3rd Saturday every month. The 'Don Valley Cruise is a place where like-minded Hotrod & American car enthusiasts can go to meet and talk hot cars! See you there, 3rd Sat every month!

The 'Don Valley Cruise' is a place where hopefully like minded car enthusiasts can go and catch up with what's happening in the Hot Rod, American car scene, a place where rodders can meet up with friends and fingers crossed meet friends from way back that used to be in the hobby. What could be better, a cruise-nite, a beer and a burger and meeting up with others; does it get any better?? It can on

ly work if attended, so polish off that wicked ride, pump up the volume on the stereo and have a cruise over on the 3rd Saturday of every month, about 5 o'clock... Frankie & Benny's, next door to the Doncaster Bowl, Leisure Park, Bawtry Road, Doncaster, DN4 5NW... We'll be waiting for yer!

The Leeds Cruise page that the DVC will be supporting and attending has the following header.
Bad press regarding our event and personal slurs to myself means the DVC pages and event chooses to distance itself from any other 'Leeds' site.

Right, this is last thing I'm posting on this subject!
I refuse to get into a slagging match with a group of people who just do not get, or refuse to get, mine and other people's interest in hotrodding.
They now feel the need to name me publicly, well I'm to old and to long in the tooth to be bothered about it.
I've had to re-adjust the dynamics of the DVC before we loose the backbone of the event, and it becomes like the Leeds Cruise with too many of the wrong kind of vehicle attending, to which the event was not designed for originally.
Last year I did ask if they were interested in taking over the running of the DVC, as at that time I had more important family matters and personal health issues to deal with. I realise now that would of been a massive mistake, it would of been the demise of the DVC as we know it for sure. Anyway, enough is enough, I'm done now with this subject! Something else is in the pipeline which is of interest, I'll keep you all posted. 👍

Let's get back to what this hobby and this page is all about! 👌

I perhaps shouldn't stir the pot, but I'm so angered at what the ASBO club has done to a friend of mine, simply because he aired his views on what he likes and dislikes at an event!
So he is now banned from the Leeds Cruise, a public event, held in a garage forecourt adjacent carpark, an event that isn't owned by anybody!
If this deters people from attending the DVC by posting this, then so be it!
I will pack this game in before I treat somebody like that!
The Leeds Cruise should go back to what it was before.

Hotrods,
American,
Custom,
Classic,
Early VW,
and highly modified, to all 2, 3, and 4 wheel vehicles.

After numerous contacts from people who attend the DVC, I feel I have to clarify what the event is really all about?
Any vehicle highly modified is always welcome, anything that would be of interest to the public who fancy getting in the workshop and creating something special to display.
I apologise to the owners of cars in the pics, nothing negative towards you is personally meant, but the examples shown would be more welcome at events that were created for such vehicles, meeting such as the Leeds Cruise and others, Doncaster is more a higher modified vehicle meet.
This possibly will, but shouldn't really, ruffle a few feathers of attendees at the DVC, I just feel it's time to recap and make known the idea behind the night.
Please come and enjoy yourself, but behave yourself, it is a static meet, Police watched, so no burnouts etc!
To keep the DVC going, and on behalf of the people that attend, plus all those who have contacted me, a level, or standard, call it what you will, has to be set in the hope that recurring events that put pedestrian families in possible harms way like last season doesn't happen again!

Just a note before the 2025 season starts off....
The Don Valley Cruise is open to cars 'of interest' to the general public. The DVC has welcomed all genres of vehicle over the years, from Hotrods to hauling Trucks, from Americana to all-wheel drive, high and low riders, custom creations both on two, three, and four wheels, from prestine classic cars to high end Super - Cars, both worth fortunes, but, and there's always a but...
If you are the owner of some pop n bang Beemer, hatchback, or whatever it is, who is not happy unless their ride is on the rev limiter, then this is not the place for you!
The DVC has a strong and valued relationship with the local Police force, who are there in plain clothes, have an eye in the sky, regular passing patrol cars, they'll take your reg number and you won't even know it, and then they will be in touch later.
There is other cruises around Doncaster that caters for that style of car, so you might be better off attending those and staying away from ours, the Police are always looking in.. Believe me!
The event is based around enthusiastic owners who like to work away all winter in the garage, and then display their pride n joy throughout the summer, if this is you? Then we look forward to seeing you all there!
If for some reason you have to come in the standard daily, then please park it in the areas to the side, it's a massive carpark, there's room for everybody. 👍

September '24, The Don Valley Cruise 'Cruiser of the Month' award this month goes to Dave Oliver from Bawtry with his absolutely awesome LS7 powered Cobra. Dave put together this stealth like beauty himself, long lonely nights busting knuckles till the early hours now enables him to have some fun out on the roads of Doncaster, and many more miles travelling to events up and down the country. Well done mate, and welcome to the DVC award winners family! 👏

September '24... Well the last meeting of the season went down well, with a good number of enthusiasts turning out for it. The thing about the DVC now is the vast cross section of vehicles that attend, which is a good thing, meaning each genre gets to talk and learn about others from the owners in attendance. Many thanks for all that came tonight, and to all the many other folk that have turned out this year, without you there is no DVC! 👏

As mentioned earlier, keeping cruise night quiet for a while seemed to have worked last night as regards the trouble makers who seem to be intent on spoiling other people's enjoyment, they stayed away, all was quiet on the night, mind, a couple of plain cloths Police and a drone in the air definitely helps, let's just hope they've realised they're not wanted!..... On the night Cruisers travelled from Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Wakefield, Dewsbury and other surrounding areas, a good selection of vehicles were on display, with a good crowd of enthusiastic public there to view all that was on show. Apologies for keeping the event quiet for a couple of months, but many thanks for attending this month and making it one of the best nights we've all enjoyed for a while. Looking forward to seeing you all again on the 3rd Saturday of next month.... 👌👏

August 'Cruiser of the Month' award goes to, well, me actually! When one person last night suggested it, I immediately dismissed the idea, but then someone else said the same, and when he asked how long the cruise had been going, (10 years ish), and why none of the rides I had displayed with over the years hadn't been picked, (🤔), I said ok, I'll pick mine if it makes you happy... So Mick Tebbs, and the '32 Ford Model B roadster, welcome to the Cruiser Award family! 😊 The car is a Jago glass body with a reproduction steel front end, Jaguar irs, Jago drop-tube axle, a 'BluePrint' 383ci stroker Chevy V8 (6300cc), with a TH350 auto box, all on a Jago chassis, and painted in Ford race red, originally built in 1978 by Bristol hotrodder Merv 'Magoo' Barnet, but recently fully rebuilt by myself and Ifan Miller at 'Millers Speed Shop' in South Wales. The hotrod rolls on, as rare as hens teeth, 11"x15" American Racing rear, and 3.5"x15" Fenton mag wheels on the front. I've owned the car for some 20 years now, and will never, ever sell it... Well that felt strange describing my own car, but thank you for the suggestion, it's nice to know you're appreciated, I guess it'll be another 10 years before I get the chance to do it again with another one of my rides?.... Thanks again! 😎

It seems that keeping the cruise night on a low burner for a couple of months has paid off! Tonights August meet was a really enjoyable event, where people travelled from far and wide to attend with a varied cross section of vehicles to display to a very appriative public. A nice family atmosphere which was very quiet, with no wheel spinning or unnecessary revving of engines was enjoyed by everyone. More pics and a write up will be on the DVC page tomorrow.... Thank you to all that attended. 👌

Illness determined that I couldn't make cruise nite tonight, I hope you all had a decent evening.... Micky T. 😎

22/05/2024

'Don Valley Cruise' update... Plain clothes officers will be amongst us at the next meeting, and willing to prosecute any bad behaviour. It has also been suggested that any public etc, that fear themselves in a dangerous situation because of idiotic driving behaviour, then please report this incident immediately. The event politely requests that anybody attending these meets do so in maintaining a safe environment for others, it is a car-park which does have a 5mph speed limit. If the event has to be marshalled in the future, then these steps will be definitely taken, a more quiet family orientated atmosphere is the ideal, but more stringent rulings will be added if necessary. Looking forward to the next DVC monthly meet.

May Cruiser of the Month Award goes to..... This is the first time in 10yrs I haven't done my job properly and given the monthly award the justice it deserves! To the owner, please forgive me, and anybody that knows him then please pass this on, I look forward to seeing him again asap... His absolutely gorgeous Beetle Karmann Ghia ragtop is the best thing I've seen by far for ages! Every single part of this car is immaculate, again, I'm so sorry for not getting anymore details regarding your car, or even your name, but I will asap, I unfortunately got distracted. I sincerely look forward to meeting up again... Welcome to the DVC award family. 👏

Some nice pics of tonight to follow asap.... But unfortunately tonight was somewhat spoilt as there seems to be an element who don't care about families with small children attending the event, and don't really care about others, so it seems we will use the assistance that is always on offer from the local Police force. I've said for ages I don't want to use them, but if others are going to jeopardise this 10yr old event, then so be it, I will! The Police showed up tonight 5mins after contact was made with them, a meeting has already been arranged with the Chief Inspector of this area asap, I know for sure he will use drones, plain or uniformed officers on site, whatever it takes to help us, so if the idiots want to take on the DVC supportive Police, then I don't fancy your chances! The event is open to all types of auto's, anything of interest to the public, but no burn-outs, no exhaust popping, no driving at speed is exceptable, it's a car-park, not a race track! It's simple, behave or don't bother coming, idiots are not welcome! An update of info after the meeting with the Police will be published asap, as soon as we know, you'll know. Thank you to those attending, thank you to those who attended and behaved themselves, and I look forward to seeing those people again next month......

Now my personal bit. I started this event 10yrs ago, I've done everything connected to it on my own, year after year I've bust a gut to give an enjoyable event for you to attend, I am not prepared to see it go down the pan, I will do whatever it takes to keep the Don Valley Cruise safe, I've reached out to ASBO's who have offered to help out. (Thank you). I had a bit of an altercation tonight with a person, I had to put him straight on his bad behaviour, but in the end I thought better of it and walked away rather than lower myself to his level by getting physical with him, and get myself arrested! So as of now, next months event is happening, but keep looking in on the page for info and updates. Please share this to other interested parties, and lets keep the Don Valley Cruise the safe place to be for car enthusiasts!..... Nuff sed!
