The River Frome, the westernmost of England's renowned chalkstreams, flows through the Estate's waters along its finest stretches just north of Dorchester in Dorset.

At Wrackleford, offer a variety of fishing beats suitable for one or two rods on the river, along with a stillwater lake. These beats are available on a day ticket basis or to a select few season rod holders. Each beat is meticulously maintained, regularly stocked, and equipped with a fishing hut for shelter during bad weather.

Enjoy a full day of shooting throughout the summer on some of our renowned game drives using simulated sporting targets - ideal for beginners to the experienced shot alike.

Simulated Game Shooting is an exhilarating sport replicating a driven game shoot but using clay targets. During the day you would expect to fire between 400 – 600 cartridges at several thousand targets. It is fast and furious and made all the more fun as you share your peg with another member of your group who can load for you.

The days can be booked by a single group (minimum of 12) and up to a maximum of 27 guests.

Our Story

The Estate is set in the lush Frome valley in the south west of England in the county of Dorset. Sitting astride this famous English chalkstream, the river flows through a series of watermeadows and withy beds. On either side of the river the land rises up steeply onto the traditional gorse downlands, interspersed by deep chalk valleys which offer such wonderful opportunities for the game shot.

Wrackleford has now been passed through into the hands of the fifth and sixth generations. It was through the foresight of each of the previous custodians that now enables Oliver and Katie Pope to offer some of the finest chalkstream fishing and a game shoot that has been equalled to some of the most sporting in the country.
