Off-road motorcyclists are reminded to stay on legal routes, respect boundaries, and use designated access points following a series of criminal damage reports in the uplands.

While motorcyclists are permitted to use the island’s green lanes and greenway roads, many of these routes pass through areas of significant habitat and wildlife importance.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has received concerning reports in recent weeks of ‘enduro-type’ motorcycles travelling off designated routes, causing substantial damage to both protected and privately owned land. Damage has also been inflicted at several plantations.

Clare Barber MHK, Minister for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, said: "These incidents cause environmental harm and put the livelihoods of upland grazing tenants at risk. We must all respect the boundaries in place to protect the land, wildlife, and the safety of livestock."

Day 1 complete (just)

On to day two after loosing 3 subframe bolts and snapping the exhaust leaving a decent size hole in her yesterday we had to make some minor adjustments 😳

Think it’s time to retire the old girl and get a new one 😞

Walking up through the grandstand to find this, 2 other lads and myself have lifted the bike and hopefully stopped it from falling again. The bike was smelling after fuel so didn’t want to leave it on the floor!

TT is upon us Folks!! For any off-road riding visitors, keep hold of this handy QR Code on your phones! This little gem directs you straight to the Islands Leisure Map, giving you all the correct routes to stay legal whilst out and about travelling around our beautiful Island!! 💥 In addition, keep your eyes open for certain Greenways/Greenlanes and Gates that will be marked with signage indicating explicitly where legal access to the TT course ENDS! This is to ensure not only your safety but to protect the environment and integrity of our Countryside & Uplands. Please do not be tempted to cross private land or fields!
