😍 Yorkshire is a region renowned for its picturesque landscapes, historic sites, and welcoming communities. From the ancient city of York with its medieval architecture to the rugged cliffs of Flamborough Head, Yorkshire beckons with its charm and beauty.

🌲 I stayed in a beautiful wooden lodge, on a small site of only around 10 properties, near to the small coastal town of Withernsea. The accommodation was idyllic, with a beautiful outlook over our own fenced garden and fields beyond. It also had the added bonus of a private hot tub to relax in after a days exploring. It was the perfect location for the peace and tranquility that was needed.

🏰 Just an hour and half away is the ancient city of York. Stepping into York is like walking through a storybook. The city’s history dates back thousands of years, starting as a Roman outpost. Over the centuries, it morphed into a vital hub for the Vikings and later the Normans. Each era has left its mark, creating layers of culture that you can sense as you stroll through the streets.

⛪ With so much to explore like the awe-inspiring York Minster, a towering Gothic cathedral that dates back to the 7th century, to the The Shambles: York's Charming Medieval Street.

🧙‍♂️ This narrow, cobbled street looks like it was pulled straight from a fairy tale. With its overhanging timber-framed buildings leaning into each other, it evokes medieval England while feeling cozy and welcoming. Shops sell everything from handmade crafts to delicious treats. Of course, this is a 'must visit' location for Harry Potter fans who liken it to Diagon Alley. It has the added bonus of themed shops where you can delight in your wizarding ways by buying a new cape, wand, chocolate frogs or basilisk blood, a rare potion!

🍫 Don't miss Yorks Chocolate Story. With a legacy dating back centuries, York has been a key player in the world of chocolate making, boasting a rich heritage intertwined with the art of crafting this beloved treat. With plenty of chances to taste and create your own chocolate, this is a perfect treat for anyone with a sweet tooth!

🚢 Another short drive of just under an hour is the seaside town of Bridlington. A bustling hub of maritime activity, with its charming harbour filled with fishing boats and pleasure craft. The town has a vibrant atmosphere, especially during the summer months with local ice cream shops, fish and chips stands, and quaint cafés. Not forgetting fairground rides for the kids (and bigger kids!) you can have a fantastic fun filled family day and even have a go on the arcade games!

Perched dramatically atop the cliffs of Flamborough Head is the historic Flamborough Lighthouse, a striking beacon that has guided ships along the rugged Yorkshire coast since 1806. Flamborough Head is not just about views; it’s a haven for nature lovers. The area is home to unique wildlife, including seabirds that nest along the cliffs. You might even spot puffins if you visit at the right time of year! The chalk cliffs and rugged coastline offer numerous trails for hiking. These trails provide you with a chance to connect with nature and enjoy the stunning scenery.
