Seaforde Gardens and Tropical Butterfly House are situated in the historic demesne of Seaforde in County Down, Northern Ireland, which has been a family home for almost 400 years. Enjoy the experience and beauty of free-flying tropical butterflies as you walk through the steamy jungle of the butterfly house; or have
a go at finding your way to the centre of Ireland's oldest maze or climb the Moghul Tower and survey the walled garden from above or simply relax and enjoy the extraordinary collection of trees and plants within Seaforde's renowned gardens. Seaforde Gardens also have tearooms, a Butterfly House shop and a children's playground.

The summer holidays are the perfect time to come and visit the Butterfly House and Gardens. Bring your little ones (and big ones) and let the Butterfly House transport you to tropical climes with its colourful butterflies and lush plants. Find your way to the centre of the maze. Bring a picnic or visit the Garden House Cafe which is now open 7 days a week serving coffees, teas, light lunches, sweet treats and ice creams. That's your day out sorted.

Hello everyone! Our 2024 season kicks off this weekend and we can't wait to welcome you all back. We open this Friday 29th March and will be open every day until the end of September. Come and bring your little ones to enjoy the colourful tropical butterflies in flight. Can you find the centre of the Maze? For budding gardeners come and see the many varieties of magnolia, camellia and rhododendron currently in full bloom.
The Garden House Café will also be open from Friday and then every day over the Easter holidays.
Our opening hours are Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 12-5pm (café open until 4pm each day, and 5pm on Saturdays).

Due to circumstances beyond our control the cafe will not be open tomorrow (Friday 16th). Our picnic tables will be waiting for you or bring a rug and enjoy a picnic on the grass. Cold drinks and ice creams available in the shop. Fingers crossed for another sunny day!

Hello to all our friends! Our 2023 season is about to kick off. We reopen this Thursday 6th April and look forward to welcoming you all back to the Butterfly House and Gardens. We'll be open 7 days a week (Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 12-5pm) until the end of September. The cafe will be open 7 days a week throughout the Easter holidays. We are looking for someone for general grounds and parkland maintenance at Seaforde Estate. The job will include lawn maintenance, mowing, shrub management, driveway and path maintenance, hedge cutting, drain and watercourse clearing and fallen tree, branch and leaf clearance.
Tractor operation and chainsaw qualifications preferable but not essential.
Salary negotiable.
