Great bike ride out form Clifford Barton this morning. The Drogo Loop. Approx 10 miles of stunning scenery along the River Teign, crossing over at the Salmon Leaps and back along Hunters Path (it's steeper than it looks). Optional refreshments stops at Castle Drogo (National Trust) cafe or the Fingle Bridge Inn.

Van du Pain is an Artisan bakery based in Moretonhampstead, that sells organic breads and a wide selection of pasties, tarts and other culinary delights. The sourdough crackers are a must, although my favourite are the lemon cruffins oozing with homemade lemon curd. Liz and Laurent sell their produce from a cute yellow French van in Moretonhampstead high street on a Saturday and Tuesday morning. Definitely worth a visit.

After a community buyout the Drew Arms is open again. A great pub. From Clifford Barton you can cycle along the river side path up to Fingle Bridge and then a short but fairly steep climb into Drewsteignton. Well worth a visit!

We're greatly looking forward to hosting a Fundraising dinner with the wonderful Sima Cutting from The Kitchen Table cooking up a feast with local, seasonal produce. Ain’t Misbehavin’ will be performing a lively set 🎶 All funds generated will be shared between Food in Community and Teign Valley Larder to help keep everyone fed! A great day spent at Clifford Barton yesterday with Vivienne Turner Willow on a willow Hare making course. A really fun day, highly recommend if you're looking for a holiday activity and fancy creating a wonderful sculpture to take back home to your garden.

We are so looking forward to opening tomorrow, been far too long. We're delighted that we have got so many family groups being able to meet up again in a socially distanced way at Clifford Barton this summer.

Slight change of plan with hanging baskets due to a pair of Grey Wagtails deciding to take up residence. Butterdon now has pots instead for the time being. Grey wagtails usually nest near rivers, but we think ours are feeding on insects at the nearby stream. They also have incredibly cute chicks 🐦

🌞SUMMER HOLIDAYS🌞
In these difficult times no one knows what the next few months may bring, when holidays may be resumed and what form they may take. We thought it would be helpful to set out how we are preparing ourselves for the fast approaching summer period, and the possibility of being allowed to open our cottages again.

The Government has indicated that self catering properties as part of the hospitality industry may be able to open from the beginning of July, but it is likely that there will be conditions and restrictions in place. We believe that there’s a reasonable chance that a fallow period will need to be left between bookings, to protect guests and cleaners to enable the properties to be deep cleaned and aired and a reasonable time left between bookings.

+ We have therefore adjusted our lets over the Summer to run from Saturday 3pm to Friday 2pm (rather than the usual Friday 3pm to Friday 10am), and we have reduced our prices accordingly.

+ The other restriction we believe the Government may enforce is that holidays should be taken by single households only. We are therefore only taking bookings (until the advice is clarified) for single households. We are happy for other households to be added to the booking at a later date if the Government advice allows it (subject to the maximum capacity of the cottage).

+We have produced (and are routinely reviewing and updating) a Covid Strategy taking on all the latest advice and recommendation on cleaning self catering properties and our other facilities such as our bike pool and games barn. This will be emailed out to all our guests in advance of their stay.

+ We will continue to offer full refunds to guests who are unable to travel due to Government Restrictions.

We hope that these measures will reassure our guests that they can come on holiday and relax and be confident that we are doing our utmost to ensure their safety and reduce risks associated with Covid 19, but please get in touch if you have any concerns or questions.
