Droitwich Spa Marina is an exciting opportunity for narrowboat owners to moor their boat at this new site, which is part of a working dairy farm, set in the glorious Worcestershire countryside Droitwich Spa Marina is on the Droitwich Junction Canal which together with the Barge Canal has been restored at the cost of £12.5m (funded by the National Lottery). g cruising circle of 21miles (the only one in Europe!), connecting the Worcester-Birmingham Canal to the River Severn via Droitwich Spa and the River Salwarpe. The new route passes through the picturesque town of Droitwich Spa with many shops, pubs and cafes. But will also encompasses the historical city of Worcester with the premiership league Worcester Rugby Club at Sixways, Worcester Cathedral, Royal Worcester Porclain, Worcester County Cricket Club, Worcester Racecourse. Droitwich Spa Marina is in an excellent location, not only to the midland canal network, but it is just 2 miles from Junction 5 of the M5 motorway. Once moored you are just a 15 minute stroll along the towpath to Droitwich Spa Town or 200 metres from the Eagle and Sun Pub overlooking the Worcester-Birmingham Canal. Construction commenced in Summer 2010 and will be fully functional Spring 2012. As well as protecting the existing wildlife, when completed new habitats will also be created. The surrounds of the marina will be enhanced with sympathetic landscaping. Numerous different species of aquatic plants will be planted around the waters edge, which is also expected to help create a tranquil setting for the enjoyment of boaters at this new marina.

St. Richard’s Canal Festival is a great weekend for boat owners. Boats are moored either at Netherwich Basin or alongside the towpath in Vines Park. There is plenty to do during the weekend. The festival is a great way to meet other boaters and catch up with old friends.

Roadwork on Hanbury Road 14/03/2022-18/03/2022:
Resurfacing on the B4090 Hanbury Road over 5 days starting on Monday 14th March until Friday 18th March under a road closure between the Eagle and Sun Public House and the M5 overbridge near to the Hadzor turn. The closure will be between 09.30am and 3.00pm each day. Should these dates change due to adverse weather we will be advised accordingly.
The supervisor has advised us that work will be starting at the “Eagle and Sun” end and work towards Droitwich. It will take 2 days to get down to the Marina entrance so it will be day 3 (weds) when we are actually in the entrance. Staff/visitors to the site will have to park on the Hanbury Road within our closure and walk into the Marina on day 3. Access to the marina on days 1 and 2 will be from the Droitwich direction and on days 4 and 5 from the Eagle and Sun side.

Droitwich Spa - Christmas Lights Switch on - Saturday 27th November 2021 and Christmas Seasonal Arrangements.
Droitwich Spa Town Council is pleased to announce the annual switching on of the Town's Christmas illuminations. This will take place at 4.30pm on Saturday 27th November 2021 outside Lloyds Bank on Victoria Square in the Town Centre. Starting from approximately 3.15pm there will be live performances from the Salvation Army Band & Mrs Helen Jones leading the Westacre Middle School Choir and The Ising Choir. This will be followed by the traditional countdown at around 4.30pm/4.45pm led by the Town Crier and the Mayor of Droitwich Spa - Councillor WT Moy, who will be accompanied by special guest Rebecca Redfern, Paralympian swimmer and medallist from the 2021 Tokyo Games to switch on the lights. The icicle lights will adorn the roof line and frontage of St Richard's House making a spectacular showcase for the town display. The St Andrews Shopping Centre have coordinated to switch their Festive Lights on simultaneously on the same date this year.
The Community Choir will be holding their seasonal concert at St Andrews Church from 5pm on the day, immediately following Switch on Ceremony. Details for the other seasonal Church services throughout the Parish are attached.
During the day there will be many attractions in the town and all car parking in Wychavon District Council pay and display car parks will be free of charge from 2pm onwards. The Worcestershire Farmers Market together with other seasonal stalls will operate on Victoria Square. The children's Fun Fair will be in town all day in the vicinity of Victoria Square and St Richard's House.
The Droitwich Lions Club will provide their popular Santa's Grotto inside St Richard's House from 10.00am until around 6.00pm. The charitable Christmas cards display and sales takes place inside the Tourist Information Centre and runs through until 21st December.
Droitwich Spa is holding celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, and we would like the Community to get involved to make the day extra special! We'll be showcasing local artists and performers and hosting activities for a fun-filled day next June. The event team will be on hand at St. Richard's House in the Heritage Centre on Saturday 27th November, 12pm-5pm as part of the Christmas Lights switch-on celebrations. Come along to find out more how you can get involved for the 2022 Event!
We're also challenging the town to help us fill Droitwich Spa with red, white and blue origami flowers on 4th June 2022. There will be activity packs and demonstrations at the drop-in to help you get started. We hope to see you there!

The Salvation Army brass band will perform in Friar Street outside the Old C**k Inn during the afternoon of 27th November from approximately 2.15pm. There will be around 18 traditional stalls on Friar Street from 10.00am to 5pm offering Seasonal fayre & gifts, crafts & refreshments. This will be followed from 6pm by live entertainment and refreshments into the evening organised by the Old C**k Inn.
The Salvation Army Band will be playing in Victoria Square at approximately 12 noon on the following additional dates leading up to Christmas - Saturdays 4th & 11th December, Christmas Eve Friday 24th December. The Worcestershire Farmers Market will take place as usual on the first Saturday of the month - 4th December as well as the Switch on day.
We hope that Saturday 27th November will bring the Community and Visitors together to celebrate the start of the Christmas Season for 2021 and to enjoy the many attractions on offer.
Whilst there are no prevailing Covid 19 restrictions in place at this time, everyone is respectfully reminded to please maintain a precautionary approach towards the health and wellbeing of themselves and others. Recommended considerations include social distance spacing of 1 metre apart for outdoor and indoor settings where possible and the wearing of face covering in any crowded places.
